Abstract
Hasil pengamatan ditemukan 4 jenis ektoparasit, yaitu: Oodinium sp. (P TA=75%, P BD=70% ; [I TA=4.4, I BD=8.3] individu per ikan), Trichodina sp. (P TA=30%, P BD=15% ; [I TA=1.3, I BD=1] individu per ikan), Ichthyophthirius multifilis (P TA=65%, P BD=15% ; [I TA=1.61, I BD=1.66] individu per ikan), Epistylis sp. (P TA=50% ; [I TA=1.6] individu per ikan.

Snakehead fish (Channa striata) is freshwater fish with economic value and become one of the important potential fisheries resource. Snakehead fish contains protein and albumin which is very important to health, so it increases consumer interest. Nowadays, aquaculture pond of snakehead fish has been developed to fulfill market needs. One of important assessment of snakehead fish aquaculture are researches of fish health including fish ectoparasite. Losses by ectoparasite infection may induces organ defection to skin and gills, furthermore it may causes retarded growth, and decline of value.
Main purposes of this research are to obtain kinds of ectoparasites also its prevalence (P) and intensity (I) of ectoparasites on snakehead fish from wild caught and aquaculture pond. Ectoparasite sample is taken from wild caught (TA) and aquaculture pond (BD) of snakehead fish with each of 20 fish with scraping method on skin and gill. Ectoparasite sample placed on Petri dish and added by buffer formalin 0,5%, then moved to labeled placon bottle. Then observed with OpticLab Microscope, then measurement prevalence and intensity may conducted.
Observation result found four types of ectoparasites, they are Oodinium sp. (P TA=75%, P BD=70% ; [I TA=4.4, I BD=8.3] individual per fish), Trichodina sp. (P TA=30%, P BD=15%; [I TA=1.3, I BD=1] individual per fish), Ichthyophthirius multifilis (P TA=65%, P BD=15% ; [I TA=1.61, I BD=1.66] individual per fish), Epistylis sp. (P TA=50% ; [I TA=1.6] individual per fish ). Based on this research can be state that the prevalence of ectoparasites on snakehead fish (Channa striata) more affected by abiotic factor such as temperature that hinder the development phase of infective parasites.
