Abstract

People want every thing is easy and convenient. It lead to a chance to built technology in form of electronic device that is capable to control electronic devices at home. A remote control is used to control a TV, air conditioning, fan and other devices. However, the existing remote controls are still less convenient and not wearable. Therefore, in this final project, a wearable device acting as a remote control is developed using hand gesture implemented to bracelet. The developed bracelet placed at the arm near the wrist is a device to remote the electronic and electrical devices. The bracelet works regarding to the movement of user hand. Inside the bracelets, a gyro sensor that has been connected to microcontroller produce the movement data that will be transmitted using Bluetooth. In the receiver side, a system consisting of a bluetooth module, a microcontroller and relay switch is implemented, so we can control the electrical devices depending on the settings, such as on/off and dimming. Thus, the bracelet can control electrical devices by simply using the gesture / movement of user hand from a distance without going to where the switch located. The developed remote bracelet has been tested to ease in remoting and controlling the electrical devices such as lamp and fan. From the measurement result, this bracelet can effectively control the electrical device upto 40 meters. It is suggested that the used of the bracelet is in the same room of device without interferences. For the future implementation, smaller electrical components are suggested to use such as SMD device, so the bracelet will be more handy and wearable.
