Abstract

Aluminium merupakan salah satu material penting yang banyak digunakan dalam dunia teknologi terutama dalam industri penerbangan. Aluminium memiliki sifat yang ringan, konduktivitas panas dan listrik yang tinggi dan memiliki ketahanan terhadap korosi. Namun aluminium dalam keadaan murni memiliki sifat mekanik yang rendah, sehingga harus dipadukan dengan unsur lain. Pemaduan ini, pada kondisi tertentu, bisa menimbulkan kerentanan aluminium terhadap korosi. Pada tugas akhir ini akan dilakukan studi eksperimen tetang Pitting Corrosion (korosi sumuran) dan analisis ketahanan korosi pada plat paduan aluminium hasil pengerolan dingin dengan reduksi ketebalan pengerolan plat aluminium divariasikan dari 0% sampai 50% dari ketebalan awal plat 4 mm. Spesimen dengan ukuran 10 mm x 10 mm x 2 mm direndam dalam larutan NaOH dalam waktu tertentu. Fenomena pitting corrosion diamati dengan melihat timbulnya Pitting (lubang) pada permukaan yang mengalami korosi. Pengujian ketahanan korosi dilakukan dengan membandingkan kehilangan berat dari spesimen sebelum dan sesudah proses perendaman dalam larutan NaOH pada waktu tertentu. Dari eksperimen yang telah dilakukan diperoleh data bahwa aluminium paduan hasil pengerolan dingin memiliki ketahanan korosi yang lebih rendah dan lebih rentan terhadap pitting corrosion. ================================================================================ Aluminium is one of the important material that is widely used in the world of technology, especially in the aviation industry. Aluminium has light properties, thermal and electrical conductivity is high, and has a corrosion resistance. But in pure situation,aluminum has a low mechanical properties, so it must be combined with other element. This integration, in certain condition, can lead the aluminium susceptible to corrosion. In this final task, will be performed experimental studies on Pitting Corrosion and corrosion resistance analysis on the results of the aluminium composite plate cold rolling with a reduction in the thickness of the aluminium plate rolling varied from 0% to 50% of the initial thickness of 4 mm plate. Specimens with a size of 10 mm x 10 mm x 2 mm was soaked in a solution of NaOH in certain time. The phenomenon of Pitting Corrosion was observed by looking at the incidence of pitting (holes) on the surface of which is subject to corrosion. Corrosion resistance testing is done by comparing the weight loss of the specimen before and after immersion in a solution of NaOH at a particular time. Of the experiments that have been conducted data showed that aluminium composite cold rolling results has lower corrosion resistance and more susceptible to Pitting Corrosion.
