Abstract

Penelitian ini melakukan investigasi tentang optimasi
sitem pendingin menggunakan Thermal Energy Storage
pada gedung komersial. Penggunaan sistem pendingin di
gedung komersial mencapai 50 % dari total konsumsi energi
gedung. Pemerintah Indonesia menetapkan biaya
penggunaan listrik yang mahal untuk gedung komersial.
Perusahaan Listrik Negara menetapkan harga waktu beban
puncak mencapai dua kali luar waktu beban puncak. TES
merupakan solusi alternatif, yang menggeser beban listrik
selama waktu beban puncak yang tarifnya mencapai dua kali
periode luar waktu beban puncak. Dalam hal ini, chiller
menghasilkan air dingin (chilled water) untuk mencapai
beban pendinginan yang diperlukan dan disimpan ke dalam
TES tank. TES tank akan mengurangi rentang operasi
kapasitas total chiller. Namun heat loss pada TES tank harus
di pertimbangkan karena heat loss yang lebih besar akan
menyebabkan kapasitas total chiller dan biaya investasi
pada setiap gedung dan kombinasi antar gedung komersial
akan semakin besar. Dalam penelitian ini, terdapat 11
kombinasi gedung komersial yang akan diterapkan dalam
beberapa variabel optimasi. Penelitian ini melakukan
optimasi kapasitas total chiller, beban pendinginan gedung
dan heat loss yang minimum dengan menggunakan simplex
linier programming. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
penghematan rata rata gedung komersial mencapai 19,6 %.

The cooling system optimization using Thermal Energy
Storage (TES) in commercial buildings is investigated in this
research. The use of cooling systems in commercial buildings is
up to 50% of total energy consumption. This consumes expensive
electricity cost according to electricity tariffs determined by
Indonesian Government. Indonesian state electricity company set
prices peak load up to twice the price outside peak hours. TES is
an alternative solution, shifting the use of electrical load during
the peak period which the tariff is twice as the off peak period. In
this case, chiller produces cold water to achive the required
cooling load and save to the TES tank. The TES tank will reduce
the chiller total capacity operating range. However heat loss at the
TES tank has to be considered because greater heat loss will
required additional total chiller capacity and investment costs at
each buildings and their combination. In this research, as 11th
combination of commercial buildings, which applied optimization
on several compenting variables. The optimization is minimizing
the combined of total chiller capacity, cooling load of the building
and heat loss using simplex linier programming. The results
shows that 19.6% savings of the average of commercial buildings.
