Abstract
Game berkembang sangat cepat dalam pengembangan maupun teknologi
sehingga menuntut pengembang game untuk mengikuti trend dan kebutuhan
pasar. Indonesia memiliki lebih dari 50 pengembang game yang tersebar di
seluruh pelosok Indonesia namun masih sedikit yang mengembangkan game
dengan konten lokal. Visual novel adalah sebuah genre game petualangan yang
memfokuskan pada cerita yang umumnya memiliki banyak rute dan multi-ending.
Model penceritaan visual novel dapat diaplikasikan kedalam berbagai cerita baik
secara aktual maupun fiktif, termasuk cerita sejarah sehingga menarik untuk
dibaca dan dimainkan. Penceritaan kembali konten lokal merupakan sebuah upaya
untuk melestarikan sejarah yang telah terukir dan memberikan warisan
budayanya.
Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan penelitian kualitatif yang diantaranya
adalah wawancara mendalam, Focus Group Discussion, observasi, dan studi
literatur. Penggunaan metode penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menggali lebih
dalam mengenai game serta mengetahui bagaimana kebiasaan pemain visual
novel secara teknis.
Hasil desain dari perancangan ini diharapkan mampu menceritakan
kembali sejarah Majapahit pada pemberontakan Ra Kuti yang juga merupakan
salah satu bagian sejarah Indonesia, dengan gaya penceritaan yang menarik bagi
generasi muda.

Game grows very fast in the development and technology, thus game
developers are forced to follow the trends and market needs. Indonesia has more
than 50 game developers spread all over the country, but still a few who develops
games with Indonesian local content. Visual novel is basically an adventure game,
it focuses on the story with many routes and multiple-ending. Visual novel
storytelling can be applied into various stories either actual or fiction stories,
including historical fiction. Retelling a local content is one of many efforts that
can we do to preserve histories that contains cultural heritage.
Methods of this research are conducted with qualitative research including
deep interviews, focus group discussions, observation and literature studies. The
use of these research methods are meant to dig up deeper into gaming habits of the
players, and find out how visual novel will be played technically.
The results of this research is expected to be able to retell the history of
Majapahit in the rebellion of Ra Kuti known as a part of the Indonesian history,
hopefully it can be appealed for younger generation to study about history.
