Abstract

Pengelasan dengan menggunakan las busur listrik memerlukan kawat las (Elektroda) yang terdiri dari suatu inti, terbuat dari suatu logam di lapisi oleh lapisan yang terbuat dari campuran zat kimia, selain berfungsi sebagai pembangkit, elektroda juga sebagai bahan tambah.Pengecoran adalah proses dimana logam cair mengalir ke dalam cetakan dengan cara gravitasi maupun diberi gaya lainnya, kemudian logam cair membeku sesuai dengan bentuk cetakan. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan persiapan alat dan bahan, Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan merancang variasi penambahan seng(Zn)dengan komposisi 36,38,40,42%wt. Selanjutnya, logam dilebur kemudian didinginkan dalam cetakan. Setelah itu dilakukan pengujian XRD, OES, Metalografi, dan Uji Kekerasan.Paduan Cu36Zn mempunyai nilai kekerasan 55.63 HRV.Paduan Cu38Zn mempunyai nilai kekerasan 60.62 HRV.Paduan Cu-40Zn mempunyai nilai kekerasan sebesar 103 HRV.Paduan Cu42Zn mempunyai nilai kekerasan 106.75 HRV.Paduan elektroda mempunyai nilai kekerasan sebesar 98.30 HRV.Penambahan unsur seng(Zn) pada paduan Cu-Zn meningkatkan sifat kekerasan. Penambahan unsur seng (Zn) pada elektroda akan meningkatkan sifat kekerasannya.

Welding using electric arc welding requires welding wire (electrodes) which consists of a core, made of a metal coated by a layer consisting of a mixture of chemicals, in addition to functioning as a generator, electrodes as well as the added material. Casting is a process in which molten metal flows into the mold by means of gravity or by other forces, then the molten metal solidifies in accordance with the shape of the mold.This research begin with preparation of tools and materials needed. Then, melt the metal with addition of Zinc (Zn) varying by 36%,38%,40% and 42% wt. After Solidified, the molten metal is analyzed by XRD, OES, metallography, and hardness testing. Cu36Zn alloy has hardness value of 55.63 HRV. Cu38Zn alloy has hardness value of 60.62 HRV.P Cu-40Zn alloy has hardness value of 103 HRV. Cu42Zn has hardness value of 106.75 HRV. Electrode alloy has hardness value of 98.30 HRV. Addition of Zinc improves the hardness properties of Cu-Zn Alloy. Enriching of Zinc elements improves hardness properties of welding electrode.
