Abstract
Pada penelitian ini telah berhasil dilakukan metoda pelapisan alumina Al2O3 pada sampel baja karbon dengan proses quenching. Proses quenching diawali dengan pemanasan sampel baja karbon sampai dengan suhu 1035°C, kemudian secara mendadak didinginkan dengan media Al(OH)3 yang dilarutkan pada molasses (C12H22O11) dengan perbandingan volume 3:1. Proses ditindaklanjuti dengan proses annealing sampel dengan variasi waktu penahanan. Karakterisasi struktur pada sampel baja tersebut dilakukan dengan XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer). Karakterisasi sifat mekanik diperoleh dengan uji kekerasan vickers. Karakterisasi kemampuan termal berupa panas jenis sampel. Kalorimeter digunakan untuk mengetahui nilai panas jenis sampel. Sampel dengan waktu penahanan annealing 2 jam memiliki fasa Al2O3 sebanyak 26,57%w, Fe3C sebanyak 48,49%w, Fe3O4 sebanyak 12,96%w dan FeO sebanyak 12,26%w. Fasa- fasa ini diperoleh melalui pengukuran XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer). Sampel ini memiliki karakteristik kekerasan vickers yang terbaik dan karakteristik termal panas jenis yang terbaik pula. Karakterisasi vickers sampel memiliki nilai 371,89 HV dari nilai vickers sampel sebelum dilapisi alumina sebesar 156,1 HV. Karakteristik termal berupa panas jenis sampel sebesar 0,704 J/gram K dari nilai panas jenis sampel sebelum dilapisi alumina sebesar0,432 J/gram K. =================================================================
In this research, alumina Al2O3 coating method has been applied to carbon steel sample with quenching process. The quenching process begins with heating of carbon steel samples up to 1035°C, then suddenly cooled with Al(OH)3 medium dissolved in molasses C12H22O11 with a 3: 1 volume ratio. The process is followed up by annealing the sample process with variation of hold time. Structural characterization of the steel sample was done by XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer). Characterization of mechanical properties was obtained by vickers hardness test. Characterization of thermal capability in the form of sample heat. The calorimeter is used to determine the heat value of the sample. Samples with 2 hours of annealing holding time had 26.57% w, 48.49% w3C Fe3C, Fe3O4 12.96% w and FeO 12.26% w. These phases are obtained by measuring XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer). This sample has the best vickers hardness characteristics and the best thermal characteristics of the type. Characterization of vickers samples has a value of 371.89 HV. The thermal characteristics of specific heate is 0.88J / K.
