Abstract

Boiler adalah sebuah wadah tertutup yang berfungsi untuk menghasilkan panas dari pembakaran dan ditransfer ke media kerja (air) hingga menjadi gas (uap). Boiler terdiri dari beberapa komponen salah satunya adalah superheater tube. Peristiwa korosi sering terjadi pada superheater tube. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pengaruh variasi tekanan gas saat proses pelapisan Ni-Al dan Ni-20Cr terhadap sifat mekanik dan morfologi paduan coating dengan metode twin wire arc spray. Hasil uji SEM menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tekanan gas partikel yang meleleh semakin banyak sehingga partikel yang dihasilkan semakin kecil. Tekanan yang tinggi juga dapat menurunkan porositas. Pengujian XRD menampilkan adanya perubahan fasa yang tidak terlalu signifikan selama proses coating dengan variasi tekanan. Hasil pengujian kekerasan tertinggi pada tekanan 6 bar yaitu 310.97 HV. Hasil pengujian adhesi tertinggi pada tekanan 4 bar yaitu 20.71 MPa kemudian mulai terjadi penurunan pada tekanan 5 bar dan 6 bar karena adanya oksida. Proses annealing pada penelitian ini dapat menurunkan porositas, menaikkan kekerasan dan adhesi pada coating.

Boiler is closed tank which is utilized to generate heat from combustion and it is subsequently transferred to working media (water) until tuns out into gas (steam). Boiler consists of several components which one of them is superheater tube. Corrosion phenomena frequently occurs in superheater tube. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of pressure variation during coating process of Ni-Al and Ni-20Cr on mechanical properties and morphology of alloy coatings using twin wire arc spray method. The result of SEM analysis showed that higher pressure would cause more particles melted so that the size of generated particles would become smaller. Additionally, high pressure will also reduce porosity. XRD analysis described that phase transformation occured but it was not overly significant during coating process using pressure variation. The highest hardness test’s result was indicated by pressure 6 bar with amount of 310.97 HV. While, the highest adhesion test’s result was shown by pressure 4 bar with amount of 20.71 MPa and furthermore it started to decline in pressure amount of 5 bar and 6 bar because the emergence of oxide. Annealing process in this experiment can reduce porosity and increase hardness and adhesion on coating.
