Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu
leaching kaolin terhadap sintesis zeolit NaP. Padatan hasil
leaching kaolin dikarakterisasi dengan XRF (X-ray Flourosence) dan padatan hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi dengan spektroskopi inframerah (FTIR), difraksi sinar-X (XRD), dan Scanning Electron Microscopy–Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX). Hasil karakterisasi XRF menunjukan bahwa rasio Si/Al pada waktu leaching 4,8, dan 12 jam mengalami peningkatan dari 1,53 menjadi 2,82; 3,18; dan 3,68. Hasil karakterisasi XRD dan FTIR menunjukan bahwa zeolit NaP terbentuk pada waktu leaching dan hidrotermal masing-masing 4 dan 72 jam. Fase sodalit terbentuk pada waktu leaching dan hidrotermal masing-masing 4 dan 12-48 jam. Sedangkan pada sintesis zeolit NaP dengan variasi leaching 8 dan 12 jam masih terdapat fase lain yaitu zeolit NaY.

The purpose of this research is to study the effect of kaolin leaching time on the synthesis of zeolite NaP. Solid products of leached kaolin were characterized with XRF (X-ray Flourosence) and solid products of synthesized were characterized with infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX). The result of XRF characterization indicate that ratio of Si/Al for kaolin leached time 4, 8, and 12 hours increased from 1,53 to 2,82; 3,18; dan 3,68. The result of XRD and FTIR characterization show that the zeolite NaP formed with 4 hours kaolin leached and hydrothermal time of 72 hours. Phase impurities sodalite formed in 12-48 hours. There was some impurity on the synthesized for 8 and 12 hours kaolin leached like zeolite NaY.
