Abstract
========================================================================================================================The purposes of this research are to evaluate the effect of operating condition and parameter such as reactor temperature and liquid hourly space velocity (LHSV) on the saturation process and desulphurization process of used lube oil in hydrogenation of aromatic (HDA) and hydrodesulphurization (HDS) reactor and to find their optimum condition based on experiment’s process variables applied. The research was modelled by using ASPEN PLUS V8.8 software with hydrogenation of aromatic reactor and hydrodesulphurization reactor were both arranged sequentially and operating adiabatically. 2 constant variables and 2 independent variables were applied. These 2 constant variables applied are operating pressure which is kept at 21 bar and gas-to-oil ratio of 250 L/L and 2 independent variables applied are temperature at 300oC; 310 oC; 330 oC; 350 oC; 370 oC; 390 oC and liquid hourly space velocity (LHSV) of 0,5 hr-1; 1 hr-1; 1,5 hr-1; 2,75 hr -1; 3,75 hr -1. Based on the conducted experiment, some results were obtained. In temperature below 350oC, yield of saturated compound in HDA reaction increased as the temperature rose. In temperature above 350 oC, yield of saturated compound in HDA reaction decreased as the temperature rose. Yield of saturated compound in HDA reaction decreased as LHSV rose. The conversion of sulphuric compound during HDS reaction increased as the temperature rose. The conversion of sulphuric compound during HDS reaction decreased as the LHSV rose. The optimum operating conditions are temperature of 350oC and LHSV of 0,5 hr-1 for HDA reaction, and temperature of 390oC and LHSV of 0,5 hr-1 for HDS reaction.
