Abstract

This research presents a calculation method to optimize grid-connected microgrid system with photovoltaic (PV), microturbine, diesel, and battery energy storage. A multi-objective function added in this research contains of generation cost function and battery lifetime. The energy transaction (charging and discharging condition) is minimized to maximize battery life time. Direct current optimal power flow (DCOPF) was used to determine generated power for each generator so that total generation cost is minimal, but still considering system constraints such as branch capacity, generator capacity, ramp rate, and energy of battery, and also system will perform a curtailment in certain condition. Therefore, generated power from renewable energy sources will be operated maximally. Optimization was calculated using quadratic programming
