Abstract

=================================================================
Dynamic Economic Dispatch (DED) is a solution to reduces electricity generation production cost and fuel cost efficiency by optimizing generating costs at generating units. Changes in load demand each time can result changes the cost of generation per time unit. The purpose of Dynamic Economic Dispatch (DED) is to get optimal power generation at the lowest possible cost while, at the same time, still serving the power requirement to consumers for 24 hours. Some of the characteristics and operating limits contained by Dynamic Economic Dispatch include transmission losses, ramp rate limits, dynamic load demands, Prohibited Operating Zones, and spinning reserves. In this final project shows the implementation of Improved Artificial Bee Colony (IABC) algorithm on Dynamic Economic Dispatch calculation. Some operating limits considered in this final project include Prohibited Operating Zones and ramp rate operation limits. Simulation test of Dynamic Economic Dispatch is done by using 6 unit generator systems and 15 unit generator systems. The results shows that the ramp rate and Prohibited Operating Zones influence generating costs result. In a 6-unit generator system by considering Prohibited Operating zones using the Improved Artificial Bee Colony (IABC) algorithm the total cost of generation is $ 313404/h or 1.002% cheaper than the Improved Bee Algorithm method.
