Abstract

Salah satu permasalahan di Indonesia ini adalah krisis energi, dibarengi dengan berkurangnya cadangan minyak di Indonesia yang akan diprediksi akan habis tidak lama lagi. Dari permasalahan tersebut diperlukan suatu energi altenartif yang renewable, seperti contoh biodiesel biji kapuk. Metode yang digunakan penulis pada penelitian ini adalah dengan metode eksperimen. Berdasarkan uji karakteristik biodiesel biji kapuk sebagian besar properties biodiesel biji kapuk telah memenuhi standar yang digunakan di Indonesia yaitu SNI. Pada penelitian ini difokuskan untuk mengetahui perbandingan biodiesel biji kapuk dibandingkan dengan biosolar milik PT Pertamina yang diperjual belikan di SPBU. Pengujian motor diesel dilakukan dengan menggunakan empat jenis bahan bakar yaitu Pertamina DEX, Biosolar, B20 (Biji Kapuk), dan B30 (Biji Kapuk) dengan menggunakan motor diesel satu silinder Kipor KM178F. Dari hasil uji performa dapat disimpulkan bahwa biodiesel biji kapuk mempengaruhi hasil performa motor diesel. Presentase biodiesel juga mempengaruhi performa motor diesel dimana daya yang dihasilkan bahan bakar B20 (Biji Kapuk) lebih tinggi dibandingkan bahan bakar B30 (Biji Kapuk). Jika dibandingkan dengan biosolar maka daya yg hasilkan bahan bakar B20 (Biji Kapuk) dan B30 (Biji Kapuk) lebih besar. ================================================================= One of the problems in Indonesia is energy crisis. This problem followed with the depletion of Indonesia’s oil reserve which predicted will run out in the near future. With presence of this problem, alternative renewable energy such as kapok seed oil biodiesel is required. The method which conducted by the author in this research is experimental method. Based on the kapok seed biodiesel characteristics test, most of kapuk seed biodiesel’s properties meet standard which applied in Indonesia which is SNI. This research was focused to discover the comparison of kapok seed biodiesel with PT Pertamina’s biosolar which sold in gas stations. Diesel engine performance test conducted by utilizing four types of fuel which is Pertamina DEX, Biosolar, B20 (Kapok Seed), and B30 (Kapok Seed) with one single cylinder Kipor KM178F Diesel engine. The result from diesel engine performance can be concluded that kapok seed biodiesel affect diesel engine performance. The precentage of biodiesel content also affect diesel engine performance where the power which generated by B20 (Kapok Seed) fuel was higher than B30 (Kapok Seed) fuel. B20 (Kapok Seed) and B30 (Kapok Seed) fuel were produced higher power output when compared to biosolar.
