Abstract

Korosi merupakan peristiwa pengrusakan logam secara alami yang disebabkan oleh interaksi elektrokimia dengan lingkungannya. Salah satu penyebab korosi adalah menempelnya bakteri pada material. Bahaya yang ditimbulkan oleh korosi sangat fatal terutama pada kapal, korosi dapat menyebabkan kegagalan pada struktur kapal yang menyebabkan kapal tidak dapat beroprasi sebagaimana mestinya. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen dengan menggunakan material uji Aluminium dimana material ini sering digunakan sebagai konstruksi kapal. Material akan diberi perlakuan panas (Aging Treatment) sebelum dilakukan uji korosi pada air laut buatan (salinitas 33 ‰, 35 ‰, 37 ‰) yang terlah ditambahkan bakteri dan tanpa penambahan bakteri. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengambil data laju korosi aluminium menggunakan metode weight loss. Laju korosi paling tinggi yaitu pada material non aging treatment dengan penambahan bakteri Thiobacillus pada salinitas 37 ‰ sebesar 1,189 mmpy. Sedangkan laju korosi paling rendah yaitu pada material Aging Treatment tanpa penambahan bakteri pada salinitas 33 ‰ yaitu sebesar 0,186 mmpy. Hal ini mengidentifikasikan bahwa Aging Treatment dapat memperlambat laju korosi dan penambahan bakteri dapat mempercepat laju korosi.

Corrosion is a natural occurrence of metal damage caused by electrochemical
interactions with the environment. One of the causes of corrosion is the
attachment of bacteria to the material. The hazard caused by corrosion fatal,
especially on ship, corrosion
can cause a failure on ship’s structure which causes
the ship to not operate properly. This study is an experiment using Aluminium
which is the material is often used as ship construction. Material to be treated by
heat treatment
(Aging Treatment)
before
corrosion test in artificial seawater
(salinity 33 ‰, 35 ‰, 37 ‰) which have been added and without added bacteria.
The method used to take the rate of aluminium corrosion data is waight loss. The
highest corrosion rate is non

aging treatment material with
the addition of
Thiobacillus bacteria at salinity 37 ‰ are 1,189 mmpy. While the lowest
corrosion rate is on aging treatment material without bacteria addition at salinity
33 ‰ are 0,186 mmpy. It was identified that Aging Treatment can slow down the
corro
sion rate and the addtion of bacteria can accelerate the corrosion rate.
