Abstract
Kualitas merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting agar suatu produk atau jasa dapat tetap eksis dalam persaingan yang ada. PT XYZ adalah perusahaan fast moving consumer goods. PT XYZ dibagi ke dalam 2 segmen yaitu segmen home and personal care products dan segmen foods and beverages. Salah satu cabang divisi personal care adalah sub-divisi oral care, yang mana mayoritas produksinya adalah pasta gigi. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pasta gigi jenis PSD ukuran 225 gram. Jenis cacat yang memiliki prosentase terbesar adalah cacat product collapse. Permasalahan yang dihadapi adalah bagaimana memperbaiki kualitas proses produksi pasta gigi dan mengurangi jumlah produk cacat.
Pendekatan yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Six Sigma dengan menggunakan framework DMAIC. Pada tahap define dilakukan identifikasi permasalahan, pada tahap measure dilakukan pengukuran current state kinerja proses perusahaan, tahap analyze dilakukan analisa serta penentuan akar masalah berdasarkan cacat yang terjadi, dan tahap improve dilakukan desain eksperimen metode Taguchi.
Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan diperoleh kobinasi level optimal untuk dapat mengurangi jumlah cacat yang terjadi. Kombinasi tersebut adalah tebal film plastik 21 mikron, beda potensial film plastik 0,5 kV, ukuran gap timing belt - green belt 25 mikron, tekanan udara airblow 0,5 bar, temperatur sealing 150 oC, dan lebar film 340 mm.

Quality is very important in order tomaintain product or service to keep exist in market competition. PT XYZ is a fast moving consumer goods company, is divided into 2 segments i.e., segments of home and personal care products and segment of foods and beverages. One branch of the Division of personal care is Oral Care sub-division, which is where the majority of its production are toothpastes. This research is focused on the production of Toothpaste PSD 225 grams. Product Collapse defect was major issue of defect, as it has the biggest percentage of defect. The main problem is how to improve the quality of Toothpaste production and reducing the number of defects.
Approximation used in this study is using the Six Sigma DMAIC framework. Define phase identified the problem, measure phase accomplished company’s current state performance, analyze phase accomplished analysis and confirm root cause for all defect happen, improve phase designined an experiment using Taguchi method.
From the result of this research, optimal level were gained in order to reduce the number of defects. Thise combination of factors were film thickness 21 micron, electrostatic level 0.5 kV, gap size between timing belt – green belt 25 micron, airblow pressure 0.5 bar, sealing temperature 150 oC, and film width 340 mm.
