Abstract

Winglet sebagai bentuk usaha mengurangi timbulnya wingtip vortex telah berkembang cukup pesat didunia penerbangan. Berbagai macam jenis winglet telah dikembangkan untuk mencari optimalisasi pengurangan wingtip vortex. Winglet jenis forward wingtip fence dipasang pada ujung airfoil E562 untuk melihat karakteristik aerodinamika fluida yang mengalir dengan sudut serang 0° dan 12°.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode numerik tiga dimensi dengan menggunakan software Gambit 2.4 dalam perancangan geometry dan meshing serta Fluent 6.3 dalam proses analisa. Benda uji berupa winglet jenis forward wingtip fence yang dipasang pada ujung airfoil E562 dengan panjang chord 0.36 m, aspect ratio (AR) sebesar 5.55, dan variasi cant angle Λ = 90°, Λ = 85°, Λ = 80°. Aliran fluida berupa freestream dengan kecepatan v = 10 m/s dalam kondisi steady dengan Re = 2,4 x 105. Turbulence model pada penelitian ini menggunakan permodelan k-ω Shear Stress Transport
Hasil yang diharapkan dari simulasi ini adalah karakteristik aerodinamika dari fluida yang mengalir disekitar benda uji berupa pressure coefficient, lift coefficient, drag coefficient, dan lift to drag ratio serta tampilan kontur berupa tekanan dan vektor kecepatan di sekitar airfoil secara detil.
=====================================================================Winglet as an effort to reduce wingtip vortex has been growth quite significant in aviation lately. There are plenty kind of winglet that have been developed to optimalize the reduction of wingtip vortex. Forward wingtip fence is added to the tip of airfoil to evaluate aerodynamic characteristic at angle of attack of 0° and 12°.
Writter used numerical study method using software Gambit 2.4 to create geometry and mesh. Writter used software Fluent 6.3 for analizing process. The simulation object is forward wingtip fence which is added to airfoil E562. Chord length is 0.36 m, aspect ratio (AR) is 5.55, and cant angle variations are Λ = 90°, Λ = 85°, Λ = 80°. Velocity of freestream is 10 m/s with steady condition. The Re of simulation is = 2,4 x 105. Turbulence model that is used in this simulation is k-ω Shear Stress Transport.
The results that are expected from this simulation are aerodynamic characteristics such as pressure coefficient, lift coefficient, drag coefficient, and lift to drag ratio. This simulation shows pressure contour and velocity contour around airfoil.
