monofilamennya. Kawat kemudian dipotong
menjadi ukuran
lebih kecil
kemudian
dipanaskan pada suhu 800
o
C
selama 2 jam. Hasil pemanasan
kemudian
diuji suhu k
rit
i
snya lalu
dikarakterisasi dengan XRD dan
SEM
.
Dari hasil pengujian
didapat
bahwa
pembuatan kawat secara
i
n
-
s
itu
dengan metode
powder
-
i
n
-
t
ube
dapat membuat kawat monofilamen
superkonduktor MgB
2
dengan
fasa dominan MgB
2
sekitar 95% dan
memiliki fasa pengotor MgO
sekitar 5%. MgO terbentuk
akibat oksidasi
yang terjadi pada serbuk MgB
2
didalam kawat.
Komposisi Mg:B yang
optimal untuk membuat kawat ini ada pada komposisi 1:2 karena
memiliki kurva resistivita
s
yang bagus
dengan nilai
Tc
Onset
sebesar
41,67 K
dan
Tc Zero
40,89 K
.
Akan tetapi terdapat
porositas pada kawat
yang terjadi
karena reduksi volume dari reaksi Mg+2B ditambah
terjadinya evaporasi pada Mg

In this research we have studied the making of MgB2

The precursor used is Mg powder (98%)
and powder B (95%
)
Both materials are mixed and then crushed with agate mortar for 30
minutes and th
en put into the tube stainless s
teel 316. The tube is then
subjected to a mechanical
treatment of
r
olling to form its monofilament
wire. The wire is then cut and sintered at a temperature of 800
o
C for
2 hours. After that we
test
the critica
l temperature then characterize the
samples
by XRD and SEM
From the result of
this research
i
t w
as found
that
i
n

situ wire

making by powder

in
-
t
ube method can make MgB
2
superconducting monofilament wire
with
MgB
2
as the dominant phas
e
around 95%
and MgO
as the impurity phase
around 5%. MgO is
formedd
ue to the oxidation occurring in the MgB
2
powder inside the
wire.
The optimal Mg:B composition
to make this wire is in the 1:2 composition Because it has a good resistivity curve with a high enough
Tc Onset that is 41,67 K and Tc Zero 40,89 K. However, there is a porosity in the wire due to the volume reduction of the Mg + 2B reaction plus the evaporation of Mg
