Abstract

Simulasi Blade Element Momentum method (BEM) dilakukan pada turbin angin untuk pompa tambak garam yang diberi nama Turbin Lama. Kemudian, dilakukan modifikasi airfoil dengan memvariasikan ketebalan dan memberikan ekor yang lebih lancip bernama Airfoil A, Airfoil B, dan Airfoil C. Ketiga airfoil tersebut disimulasikan menggunakan XFOIL untuk dibandingkan nilai CL-nya. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa Airfoil A memiliki nilai CL yang paling baik hampir pada semua nilai Rec yang diujikan, yaitu 12.500, 25.000, 37.500, 50.000, dan 62.500. Kemudian, ketiga airfoil tersebut disimulasikan menggunakan metode BEM dengan sudut pitch, twist, dan chord yang sama dengan Turbin Lama pada Rec 12.500, 25.000, 37.500, 50.000, dan 62.500. Ketiga turbin tersebut diberi nama Turbin A, Turbin B, dan Turbin C. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa Airfoil A memiliki kinerja paling baik diantara turbin lainnya dengan CP optimum sebesar 0,23 pada Rec 62.500. Turbin A kemudian dibuat, lalu dilakukan eksperimen dengan mengukur kecepatan angin dan kecepatan angular Turbin A. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa Turbin A memiliki rentang λ dari 4.5 hingga 5.5 dengan CP masing-masing 0,11; 0,135 dan 0,16. ============================================================================================= Blade Element Momentum method (BEM) simulation is performed on a wind turbine for a saltwater pump named Turbin Lama Then, the airfoil modified by varying the thickness and giving a more taper trailing edge named Airfoil A, Airfoil B, and Airfoil C. The three airfoils are simulated using XFOIL to compare their CL. The simulation results show that Airfoil A has the best CL value almost at all of the tested Rec values, which are 12,500, 25,000, 37,500, 50,000, and 62,500 Then, the airfoil was simulated using the BEM method with the same pitch, twist, and chord angles as Turbin Lama at Rec 12,500,25,000 , 37,500, 50,000, and 62,500. The three turbines are named Turbin A, Turbin B, and Turbin C. The simulation results show that Airfoil A has the best performance among other turbines with optimum CP of 0.23 at Rec 62,500. Turbine A was then made, then an experiment was performed by measuring wind velocity and angular velocity of Turbin A. The measurement results showed that Turbine A has a range of λ from 4.5 to 5.5 with CP of 0.11 each; 0.135 and 0.16.
