Abstract
Taman Nasional Komodo menjadi daya tarik bagi banyak wisatawan
khususnya wisatawan mancanegara. Untuk mencapai lokasi tersebut mayoritas
wisatawan akan singgah di kota Labuan Bajo, ibukota Kabupaten Manggarai
Barat. Sehingga banyak akomodasi pariwisata yang didirikan untuk memenuhi
kebutuhan wisatawan. Salah satunya yaitu Hotel Exotic Komodo yang terletak di
depan Bandara Komodo. Hotel dilengkapi dengan restoran dan galeri suvenir
yang bebas diakses oleh pengunjung non-inap.
Oleh karena lokasinya yang strategis dan adanya fasilitas tersebut maka
Hotel Exotic Komodo ramai dikunjungi oleh wisatawan. Akomodasi tersebut
potensial sebagai sarana promosi keindahan Labuan Bajo dan Taman Nasional
Komodo. Untuk menonjolkan potensi-potensi tersebut diperlukan desain interior
yang tepat agar terbentuk suasana dan desain hotel yang sesuai dengan karakter
pengunjung, citra perusahaan, dan budaya sekitar dengan mempertimbangkan
kondisi eksisting.
Untuk memperoleh konsep desain yang sesuai diperlukan proses
penelitian. Penelitian dalam laporan tugas akhir ini menggunakan tiga metode
yaitu metode observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner. Metode observasi digunakan
untuk mendapatkan data-data eksisting area hotel, suasana hotel, dan kondisi
sekitar. Wawancara dilakukan untuk memperoleh data perusahaan dan keinginan
pemilik. Kuesioner digunakan untuk mengetahui karakter dan keinginan
pengguna.
Dari hasil penelitian tersebut didapatkan konsep desain yang merupakan
perpaduan budaya lokal yaitu Manggarai dan budaya Jawa yang dibawa oleh
pendatang. Budaya Manggarai yang ditampilkan yaitu tenun songke dan komodo.
Sedangkan budaya Jawa ditampilkan melalui reog dan joglo.

Komodo National Park has become attractive destination for tourists
especially foreigners. The majority of them will stay at Labuan Bajo, the capital
of West Manggarai Regency before reach the park location. So many established
tourism accommodation to meet the needs of the tourists. One of them is Exotic
Komodo Hotel which located across Komodo Airport. The hotel are equipped
with facilities such as restaurant and souvenir gallery that is accessible for nonstay
guests.
Because of its strategic location and the presence of such facilities makes
Exotic Komodo Hotel is often visited by the tourists. The accommodation is
potential to promoted the beauty of Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park. A
good and proper interior design is needed to help bringing up the potention to
create the ambiance and design that suits the user character, corporate image, and
local culture by considering the existing conditions.
To obtain an appropriate design concept takes the research process.
Research in this final report using three methods: observations, interviews, and
questionnaire. Observation methods used to obtain data of the existing areas of the
hotel, ambiance of the hotel, and environmental concerns. Interviews were
conducted to obtain data on companies and owner whises. A questionnaire was
used to determine the character and the user wishes.
From the results of these studies found that the design concept is a blend
of local culture that is Manggarai and Javanese culture brought by immigrants.
Manggarai culture shown are songke and komodo. While the Javanese culture is
shown through reog and joglo.
