Abstract

Dalam industri kereta api Indonesia khususnya dalam hal pembuatan underframe kereta menggunakan baja SS400 sebagai material utamanya. Maka penting untuk mengetahui sifat mekaniknya agar tidak mudah terjadi kerusakan saat penggunaan kereta api akibat pengaruh dari perlakuan panas dalam pembuatan underframe kereta tersebut.
Pada penelitian kali ini akan dilakukan analisa pada material baja karbon rendah SS400. Pertama dimulai dengan persiapan spesimen, uji unsur, pemotongan spesimen SS400, kemudian dilanjutkan denga laku panas hardening suhu 900ᵒC yang bertujuan simulasi tegangan sisa karena pada saat pembuatan underframe kereta api mendapat deformasi karena proses pengelasan, setelah itu dipanaskan kembali untuk membantu proses reforming menggunakan suhu 400ᵒC, 600ᵒC, 800ᵒC.
Ditinjau dari hasil perlakuan panas reforming pada suhu 800ᵒC mempunyai kekuatan tarik maksimum 463,704 Mpa dan yield strength sebesar 377,778 Mpa. Struktur Mikro pearlite 46% dan ferrite sebesar 54%. Oleh karena itu suhu 800ᵒC menjadi pilihan utama yang digunakan untuk memanaskan material kembali sebelum reforming, karena tidak banyak merubah struktur mikro dan kekuatan tarik material.

In the Indonesian railway industry, especially in terms of making underframe using low carbon steel as the main material. It is important to know its mechanical properties in order to avoid unwanted damage when the train is being used as transportaion because of the effect from heat treatment in the making of the train underframe. Because of it, that research happen.
In this research will be analyzed on SS400 low carbon steel material. The first begins with the preparation of specimens, elemental tests, SS400 specimen cuts, and then proceeded by heat hardening temperatures of 900ᵒC aimed at simulating the manufacture of residual stresses because at the time of making the rail underframe got deformation due to welding process, after which it was reheated to assist the reforming process using temperature 400ᵒC, 600ᵒC, 800ᵒC.
Viewed from the result of heat treatment reforming at temperature of 800ᵒC has a maximum tensile strength of 463,704 Mpa and yield strength equal to 377,778 Mpa. The micro structure is pearlite 46% and ferrite is 54%. Therefore the temperature of 800ᵒC becomes the main choice used to reheat the material before reforming, since it does not change the micro structure and tensile strength of the material
