Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan sintesis katalis Mg1-xCuxFOH dengan variasi x = 0,025; 0,050; 0,075; 0,100; dan 0,150 mol melalui metode sol-gel. Katalis dikarakterisasi struktur kristalnya dengan difraksi sinar-X (XRD), ditentukan keasamannya dengan metode adsorpsi piridin-FTIR, dan diukur luas permukaannya (SBET) dengan metode adsorpsi-desorpsi N2. Hasil karakterisasi XRD dan FTIR menunjukkan bahwa katalis Mg1-xCuxFOH memiliki struktur seperti MgF2 dengan kestabilan termal 350°C. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan adanya fasa CuO pada katalis dengan x = 0,100 dan 0,150. Luas permukaan dan keasaman katalis Mg1-xCuxFOH meningkat dengan adanya doping Cu. Aktivitas katalis Mg1-xCuxFOH diuji pada reaksi trimetilhidrokuinon (TMHQ) dan isofitol. Produk dan sisa reaktan dianalisis dengan high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas, yield dan selektivitas benzofuran optimum dicapai oleh katalis Mg0,975Cu0,025FOH dengan nilai masing-masing sebesar 78,8; 58,1 dan 73,8%. Konversi TMHQ dari katalis Mg1-xCuxFOH meningkat dengan adanya doping Cu. ===================================================================================================== A series of Cu doped hidroxylated magnesium fluoride, Mg1-xCuxFOH, with x = 0,025; 0,050; 0,075; 0,100 and 0,150 mol has been synthesized by sol-gel method. The crystal structure of catalysts was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The acidity was determined by adsorption-desorption of pyridine followed by FTIR. The surface area (SBET) was measured by adsorption-desorption of N2. The XRD and FTIR results showed that the crystal structure of Mg1-xCuxFOH catalysts is similar to MgF2 structure with thermal stability up to 350° C. XRD characterization results showed the presence of CuO phase on the Mg1-xCuxFOH catalyst with x = 0.100 and 0.150 mol. The Cu doping increased the surface area and the acidity of Mg1-xCuxFOH catalysts. The activity of Mg1-xCuxFOH catalysts was tested on the reaction of trimethylhydroquinone (TMHQ) and isofitol. The products and the remaining reactants were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The optimum activity, benzofuran yield and selectivity were achieved by Mg0.975Cu0.025FOH with the THMQ convertion, benzofuran yield and selectivity were 78.8, 58.1 and 73.8% respectively. The Cu doping increased TMHQ convertion of Mg1-xCuxFOH catalysts.
