Abstract
Kota Cilegon adalah sebuah kota yang terletakdi Provinsi Banten, Indonesia yang dikenal juga sebagai kota industri. Sebutan lain bagi Kota Cilegon adalah Kota Baja, mengingat kota ini merupakan penghasil baja terbesar di Asia Tenggara.
Namun, identitas kota Cilegon sebagai kota baja tidak terlalu nampak bila ditinjau dari landmark kota cilegon yang sebagian besar masih berupa bangunan yang belum diterapkannya elemen arsitektur, seperti memanfaatkan dan mengolah material baja yang dihasilkan kota tersebut menjadi suatu fasad atau struktur ber-tektonika pada titik vital kawasan kota Cilegon .
Dengan meninjau dan menerapkan Image of the city Kevin Lynch, linkage theory Robert Trancik, metode problem seeking, pendekatan urban acupunture dan konsep-konsep yang menunjang diharapkan citra kota Cilegon sebagai kota baja akan nampak.
Hal tersebut juga yang melatarbelakangi redesain Cilegon Supermall untuk dijadikan bangunan komersil yang dapat juga menjadi landmark dikarenakan potensi yang dimiliki site tersebut, yaitu merupakan suatu mall dengan aktifitas padat

Cilegon is a city located in Banten Province, Indonesia, which is also known as industrial city. Another term for the City of Cilegon is the City of Steel, considering that this city is the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia.
However, the identity of the city of Cilegon as a city of steel is not very visible when viewed from the city landmark cilegon which is still largely in the form of buildings that have not applied the architectural elements, such as utilizing and processing steel material produced the city into a facade or tectonic structure at a vital point Cilegon area.
By reviewing and applying Image of the city Kevin Lynch, Robert Trancic's linkage theory, problem seeking method, urban acupunture approach and concepts that support the expected image of Cilegon city as a steel city will be visible.
It is also behind the redesign Cilegon Supermall to be a commercial building that can also be a landmark due to the potential of the site, which is a mall with solid activity.
