Abstract
PDAM Surabaya merupakan salah satu unit usaha milik daerah yang bergerak dalam bidang distribusi air bersih. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengendalikan kualitas proses produksi air minum PDAM Surabaya menggunakan salah satu alat statistik yaitu diagram kontrol. Variabel yang digunakan merupakan karakteristik kualitas air berupa Turbidity, KMnO4, Sisa Chlor, dan pH. Keempat variabel ini diindikasikan memiliki hubungan sehingga digunakan diagram kontrol multivariat. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan data sekunder Bulan Januari-Maret 2014 untuk fase 1, dan Bulan April-Mei 2014 untuk fase 2. Hasil pemeriksaan asumsi normal multivariat dan korelasi menyatakan bahwa diagram kontrol multivariat cocok diterapkan terhadap data. Diagram kontrol menunjukkan bahwa variabilitas proses yang belum terkendali disebabkan oleh pH dan Sisa Chlor, kemudian mean proses yang belum terkendali disebabkan oleh Turbidity dan pH. Dengan menggunakan standard batas kendali baru dari fase 1, diagram kontrol untuk fase 2 menunjukkan bahwa proses telah in control dan dapat diketahui bahwa proses produksi selanjutnya memiliki nilai indeks MCp sebesar 1.66 dan MCpk 0.75, yang menunjukkan bahwa presisi proses cukup baik namun akurasi proses masih kurang baik sehingga belum mampu memenuhi spesifikasi yang diharapkan.

PDAM Surabaya is one of the regional business unit runs in the distribution of water. This research is undertaken to control the quality of water production process at PDAM Surabaya using one of the statistical tools, control chart. The variables used are 4 quality characteristics of water includes Turbidity, KMnO4, Chlor Residual, and pH. Multivariate control chart is used due to correlation that is indicated to be exist among these variables. This research used secondary data of water quality characteristics from January to March 2014 (first phase) and April to May 2014 (second phase). The result of identification of multivariate and correlation assumption states that multivariate control chart is suitable for this data. The control charts show that the variability of process has not been controlled and majority caused by pH and Chlor Residuals, so does the mean of process which is caused by pH and Turbidity. By using new standard control chart obtained from the first phase, the second phase control chart shows that process has been in control, so it can be known that the next production process has MCp value of 1.66 and MCpk value of 0.75, which means that the next process precision is pretty good but the process accuracy is still not good enough, so the process has not been able to meet the expected spesification.
