Abstract

Endosulfan sulfate is the major residue from endosulfan which has high persistence in soil, highly toxic and difficult to degrade. Therefore, degradation process is an effective method to degrade pollutants by microorganism. In this study, the ability of brown rot fungus Gloeophyllum trabeum to degrade endosulfan sulfate was investigated for 14 days incubation in PDB medium. Liquid-liquid extraction was used to recover endosulfan sulfate. Analysis percentage of degradation was measured by GC-MS and degradation percentage of endosulfan sulfate after incubation is 31,52%, respectively. Metabolite product of degradation process is endosulfan diol.
