Abstract

Museums are often visited by visitors to study and seek information. Meanwhile the available information in the museum is limited and lack of a guide role to accompany the visitor in providing more information. Innovations are necessary to attract more visitors in providing detail information ab out collections of the museum. Provision of information is packaged attractively with virtual guide which is designed using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. The virtual guide is able to show a detailed explanation from each part of featured collections. The Augmented Reality technology is using QR Code as a marker so that users can get virtual information when successfully scan the marker which placed around the object. The result of this final project is a virtual guide application that is able to show more detailed and interactive information for featured collection of Mpu Tantular Museum, in order to optimize the role of the available guides. After conducting the tests, obtained the results of all respondents agreed that this application can add insight on information and useful when applied in the museum to optimize the role of the museum guide. This is proven by increasing the average of test results about 56,66% or three to four correct answers compared without using application.
