Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memisahkan mangan dioksida (MnO2) dari limbah pasta baterai dengan metode elektrolisis. Limbah pasta baterai didapatkan dari pasta baterai bekas. Pasta dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRF dan didapatkan komposisi terbesar adalah MnO 60%. Pasta dilindih dengan variasi asam sulfat (H2SO4)1 M, 2 M, dan 4M dan reduktor asam oksalat(H2C2O4) 0,8M pada suhu 700C Variasi waktu pelindihan ini adalah 20, 40, dan 60 menit. Kandungan Mn dalam larutan hasil pelindihan dianalisis menggunakan Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Didapatkan kandungan terbesar Mn pada konsentrasi 4 M selama 60 menit sebesar 29,43%. Pemisahan MnO2 dengan metode elektrolisis dari larutan hasil pelindihan dilakukan dengan variasi tegangan 1, 3, dan 5 Volt dan variasi waktu 20, 40, dan 60 menit. Endapan yang dihasilkan dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD. Difraktogram XRD menunjukkan senyawa MnO2 dalam bentuk groutelit dan manganit. Endapan terbesar dihasilkan pada tegangan 5 Volt selama 60 menit sebesar 0,1559 gram.

Research on separation of manganese dioxide (MnO2) from battery paste waste by electrolysis had been performed. Battery paste waste was separated from used battery. Paste had been characterized by XRF and the most abundant composistion of it was MnO 60%. Paste had been leached with the variations of sulfuric acid(H2SO4)1 M, 2 M, and 4M and oxalic acid (H2C2O4) 0.8M as reductor at 700C. The time variations of this leaching were 20, 40, and60 minutes. After leached, the solution were analyzed with Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) to determine the composistion of Mn in solution. The most abundant Mn result when it was leached by sulfuric acid 4 M for 60 minutes, 29,43% Mn was leached. MnO2 separation was carried out by electrolysis method at 1, 3, and 5 Volt and the time variation 20, 40, and 60 minutes. Slurry was characterized by XRD. XRD diffractogram had showed MnO2 in groutelite and manganite mineral phase. The most slurry was gotten when electrolysis was performed at 5 Volt for 60 minutes.It got 0.1559 gram Mn slurry.
