Abstract
Kurang maksimalnya pemanfaatan kayu kopi oleh masyarakat Jawa Timur mengakibatkan kayu kopi tidak memiliki nilai ekonomi yang tinggi. Kayu kopi dianggap sebagai limbah yang hanya digunakan sebagai kayu bakar. Padahal kayu kopi memiliki potensi yang cukup tinggi untuk menghasilkan material produk, maka diperlukan eksplorasi material kayu kopi sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian ini.
Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan meliputi metode literatur yang digunakan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan material kayu kopi, menggali informasi hasil penelitian/ekperimen kayu kopi dan mengetahui sifat-sifat kayu kopi. Metode eksperimen digunakan untuk mencari tekstur yang unik dengan melakukan pola potong horizontal, vertikal dan diagonal yang diaplikasikan pada produk dengan output engineered wood. Selanjutnya metode persona digunakan untuk menganalisis prilaku dan gaya hidup calon konsumen yang menjadi target pemasaran produk.
Dari hasil analisis dapat diperoleh konsep material yaitu wooden technology in modern craft. Konsep ini akan diaplikasikan pada produk home décor dan urban innovation product

The lack of coffee wood utilization by East Java citizens cause coffee wood to not have a high economical value. Wood coffee is considered as a waste product that can only be used as fire wood. Even though coffee wood has a relatively high potential to be created as a product material, therefore, an exploration of coffee wood materials is required which suits the purpose of this research.
The research method used in this project includes; literatures that is required to find the utilization of coffee wood, experimentation to discover the results of coffee wood along with its characteristics. The experiment method is done to find the unique texture by cutting the wood horizontally. Vertically and diagonally, so then it is applied to products withan engineered wood product. Furthermore, persona method is the used to analyze the behaviour and lifestyle of future consumers, which will be the product marketing target.
The results from the analysis is a material concept which defined as wooden technology in modern craft. This concept will be applied to home decor products and urban innovation products.
