Abstract

Proses CO2 removal merupakan salah satu tahap pemurnian gas
dari kandungan CO2. Proses absorbsi CO2 yang terjadi di dalam kolom
absorber merupakan salah satu proses CO2 removal. Proses tersebut
membutuhkan energi panas dengan jumlah yang sangat besar, dimana
energi yang digunakan berasal dari heat exchanger. Namun seiring
dengan berjalannya waktu, kondisi operasi dari heat exchanger akan
menurun. Dalam tugas akhir ini, dilakukan analisis mengenai kinerja
proses CO2 removal yang menggunakan energi dari heat exchanger.
Model dari CO2 removal plant disimulasikan dengan menggunakan
Aspen Hysys. Kinerja dari heat exchanger dapat dianalisis dengan
melakukan perhitungan terhadap koefisien perpindahan panas dan laju
perpindahan panas pada saat kondisi desain dan kondisi aktual. Setelah
dilakukan perbandingan terhadap kondisi desain dan kondisi aktual,
diketahui bahwa koefisien perpindahan panas dan laju perpindahan
panas pada heat exchanger 106-C mengalami penurunan dengan nilai U
mencapai 107,34 kcal/hr °C dan nilai Q mencapai 897.370,89 kcal/hr.
Begitu juga dengan kinerja heat exchanger 109-C dengan nilai U
mencapai 214,34 kcal/hr °C dan nilai Q mencapai 2.811.288,84 kcal/hr.
Penurunan kinerja heat exchanger tidak mempengaruhi proses CO2
removal pada kolom absorber karena relatif kecil sehingga dapat
diabaikan. Top outlet dari kolom absorber yang mempunyai kandungan
CO2 1,26% dipengaruhi oleh jenis solvent yang digunakan yaitu DEA.
Peningkatan kinerja heat exchanger dapat dilakukan dengan
menentukan jadwal pembersihan secara berkala untuk meminimalisasi
faktor pengotor (fouling).

CO2 removal process is one-step purification of gases from the
CO2 content. CO2 absorption process that work in absorber column is
one step of CO2 removal process. The process requires heat energy with
a very large number, in which the energy used comes from the heat
exchanger. But over time, the operating conditions of the heat
exchanger will decrease. In this thesis, an analysis of the performance of
the CO2 removal process that uses energy from the heat exchanger.
Model of CO2 removal plant was simulated using Aspen Hysys.
Performance of the equipment can be analyzed by calculating the heat
transfer coefficient and heat transfer rate at the time of design
conditions and actual conditions. After a comparison of the design
conditions and actual conditions, it is known that the heat transfer
coefficient and heat transfer rate in heat exchanger 106-C decreased by
the value of U reached 107.34 kcal/hr °C and the Q value reached
897,370.89 kcal/hr. So is the performance of the heat exchanger 109-C
with a U value reached 214.34 kcal/hr °C and the Q value reached
2,811,288.84 kcal/hr. The decline in the performance of the heat
exchanger does not affect the CO2 removal process in the absorber
column because it is relatively negligible. Top outlet of the absorber
column has a CO2 content of 1.26% is influenced by the type of solvent
used is DEA (diethanolamine). Improved of the heat exchanger
performance can be done by determining the schedule periodic cleaning
to minimize impurity factor (fouling).
