Abstract

Indonesia has 92 outer islands where 12 islands borders on the open sea and 80
islands directly borders on 10 countries around Indonesia, one of them is Maratua Island. As
one of the outer islands, Maratua Island has potential tourism, especially for sea tourism.
However, the potential of sea tourisms in Maratua is not supported by good transportation as
facilities for both tourists and locals at the Maratua Island.
Therefore, this final project will find the appropriate modes of transportation that can
be used as a suggestion of transportation at the Maratua Island. The process of determining
the appropriate transportation modes used in Maratua begins with collecting the datum from
the locals and tourists about their need transportation services in Maratua. Afterwards, based
on result of the people’s need, it will be determined the appropriate transportation, Then
based on the origin and destination From the demand, the route will be determined From the
means of transportation which are used. After the route is known, the next is to perform
scenarios with modes that used is Sea Cycle, Solar Boat with Capacity 10 pax And Solar
Boat with Capacity 20 pax. Based on these scenarios, this final project will calculated the
costs incurred for each mode used. Further, the sensitivity analysis performed to determine
the appropriate mode with minimum cost. Finally, the modes of marine transportation that
appropriate to be used is Solar Boat with capacity 10 pax. With the total cost is IDR
126.848.897.84.
