Abstract
Perkembangan media dengan menyajikan tema silat sampai dengan sekarang sangat jarang memasukkan aspek pengetahuan dan informasi sejarah silat. Hal ini selayaknya patut dikritisi karena media referensi tentang silat baik itu berupa buku atau media lainnya di Indonesia juga sangat sedikit. Masyarakat umum, komunitas pecinta seni beladiri silat atau penggemar komik silat, dan para praktisi silat membutuhkan media referensi tersebut untuk menambah wawasan tentang sejarah pencak silat. Perlu diketahui, pencak silat adalah olah raga yang cukup populer baik didalam maupun diluar negeri dilihat dari banyaknya jumlah perguruan dan muridnya. Problematika ini membuat penulis meneliti lebih lanjut dan menciptakan media yang dapat menarik target segmentasi remaja hingga dewasa awal, media tersebut adalah komik. Selain karena perkembangan komik lokal di Indonesia memiliki potensi yang besar, komik juga merupakan media yang tepat bagi generasi muda yang lebih menyukai bacaan visual daripada verbal
Dalam perancangan ini, penulis terlibat wawancara langsung dengan narasumber yaitu para pakar silat yang ada di kota Surabaya dan juga dilengkapi dengan studi pustaka dengan mengumpulkan berbagai macam informasi di buku maupun di internet. Kemudian dari hasil riset tersebut dirangkai menjadi alur peristiwa sebagai jalan cerita pada perancangan komik. Komik ini disajikan dengan genre aksi fiksi sejarah dengan ilustrasi gambar semi realis berformat hitam putih. Penulis memiliki harapan dengan terciptanya komik pencak silat sebagai media pengetahuan dan sejarah ini maka generasi muda menjadi belajar memaknai dan mereprentasikan sikap yang tidak merugikan masyarakat, meningkatkan minat terhadap pencak silat, dan semakin mencintai budaya asli Indonesia.

The development of media by presenting the theme of silat up to now very rarely include aspects of knowledge and information history of silat. This should be criticized because the media reference about silat either in the form of books or other media in Indonesia is also very little. The general public, martial arts lovers community silat or martial arts fans, and martial arts practitioners need the reference media to add insight about the history of martial arts. Please note, pencak silat is a sport that is quite popular both inside and outside the country seen from the number of colleges and students. This problematic makes the author examine further and create a medium that can attract the target segmentation of adolescence to early adulthood, the media is a comic. In addition to the development of local comics in Indonesia has great potential, the comic is also an appropriate medium for young people who prefer visual reading rather than verbal
In this design, the authors involved direct interviews with the speakers of martial arts experts in the city of Surabaya and also equipped with literature study by collecting various information in books and on the internet. Then from the research results are assembled into the flow of events as a storyline on the design of comics. This comic is presented with the genre of action of historical fiction with illustration of semi-realist picture in black and white format. The author has hope with the creation of comic pencak silat as a medium of knowledge and history of this then the younger generation to learn memaknai and represent the attitude that does not harm society, increase interest in martial arts, and love the indigenous culture of Indonesia.
