Abstract

Cadangan nikel sulfida yang terus menipis menyebabkan pengembangan pengolahan pada jenis laterit diperlukan guna memenuhi kebutuhan. Pengolahan nikel laterit menggunakan gas CO sebagai pereduktor pada reduksi langsung terbukti efektif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mereduksi bijih nikel laterit limonitik dengan kadar Ni 1,25%. Adapun pembuatan briket dengan campuran bijih nikel laterit limonitik, batu bara, Na2SO4 dan tepung tapioka yang nantinya dimasukkan ke dalam crucible bed bersama dengan penambahan batu bara dan dolomit (di luar briket) yang kemudian direduksi pada temperatur 1400oC dengan variasi rasio batu bara dan dolomit 1,19; 1,48 dan 2,09. Pengujian EDX, XRD dan SEM dilakukan untuk mengetahui kadar Ni dan Fe hasil reduksi, fasa-fasa yang terbentuk dan morfologi pada hasil proses reduksi. Dari hasil reduksi didapatkan peningkatan kadar Ni tertinggi didapat dengan rasio 1,48 dengan peningkatan sebesar 11,49%, serta recovery Ni tertinggi diperoleh rasio 2,09 sebesar 99,10%. Sedangkan, peningkatan kadar Fe tertinggi sebesar 13,29% dari rasio 1,48 dan recovery Fe paling tinggi didapat dengan rasio 2,09 sebesar 14,24%. ============================================================================================== Nickel sulfide reserves which keeps thinning causes the development of processing on this type o f laterite required to meet needs . Nickel laterite processing using gas CO as reducing agent in the direct reduction proved effective. This research was conducted with the reduct ion of nickel laterite l imoniti c ore s with 1.25% Ni. As for making briquettes with a mixed nickel laterite limonitic , coal, Na 2 SO 4 and tapioca flour which was later incorporated into the crucible bed along with the addition of coal and dolomites (outside of briquettes) which is then reduced at temperatures 1400 o C with variation rat io of coal and dolomite 1,1 9 ; 1,48 and 2,09. EDX test , XRD test and SEM test is carried out to find out the grade of Ni and Fe reduction results, phases that are formed and morphology on the results of the process of reduction . From the results obtain ed by the reduction of elevated grades of the hig h est Ni with ratio 1,48 with an increase of 11 , 49%, as well as the recovery of Ni hig h est ratio 2 , 09 with result 99 , 10%. Meanwhile, increased grades of Fe hig h est o f 13,29% from the ratio 1,4 8 and recovery Fe hig h est gained with ratio 2,09 by 14,24 % .
