Abstract
Beberapa permasalahan timbul jika limbah industri pangan tidak dikelola dengan baik sebelum dibuang ke lingkungan. Seperti halnya yang terjadi pada salah satu industri pangan skala rumah tangga di Surabaya. Permasalahan yang timbul antara lain terganggunya kehidupan organisme perairan sehingga mengakibatkan kematian dan bau busuk, kelebihan nitrogen dan fosfor yang menyebabkan eutrofikasi, dan sebagainya. Dampak negatif tersebut terjadi karena limbah industri pangan mengandung bahan organik yang tinggi. Dampak ini memerlukan upaya pengolahan limbah melalui alternatif teknologi yang efektif dan efisien. Salah satu teknologi yang potensial adalah menggunakan sistem lahan basah buatan (Constructed Wetland).
Prinsip kerja Constructed Wetland yaitu dengan memanfaatkan simbiosis antara tumbuhan air dengan mikroorganisme dalam media di sekitar sistem perakaran tumbuhan tersebut. Tumbuhan yang digunakan adalah Scirpus grossus. Sebelum masuk ke Constructed Wetland, limbah terlebih dahulu melewati pengolahan awal. Pada perencanaan ini dipilihlah unit pengolahan biologis berupa Anaerobic Baffled Reactor dan Constructed Wetland.
Metode perencanaan dimulai dengan melakukan studi literatur terkait topik perencanaan. Pengumpulan data terdiri dari data primer maupun sekunder diperoleh melalui survei lapangan, sampling maupun dari laporan perencanaan terdahulu. Perhitungan Engineering Design mencakup perhitungan dimensi dan aspek hidrolika bangunan IPAL dan SOP operasi dan pemeliharaan IPAL.
Berdasarkan perhitungan Engineering Design (ED), diperoleh hasil berupa dimensi grease trap (1,215 m x 0,6 m x 0,45 m), bak pengendap (2,1 m x 0,7 m x 2,82 m), bak ekualisasi (1 m x 0,7 m x 1,3 m), anaerobic baffled reactor (6,2 m x 0,7 m x 2 m), constructed wetland (6,3 m x 0,7 m x 1,4 m). Biaya pembangunan IPAL sebesar Rp 75.300.000., sedangkan untuk pengoperasian IPAL sebesar Rp 7.400.000.
==================================================================== Several environmental problems may occur if the wastewater from food industry is not treated properly before being disposed to the environment as in the case with one of the household food industries in Surabaya. The untreated wastewater may cause contamination to the aquatic organism which lead to death of aquatic organisms and odors, eutrophication that caused by excess of nitrogen and phosphorus, etc. The negative impact is caused by the high organic substance amount in the wastewater of food industry. Organic substance is a nutrition source for the rapid growth of microorganism and it will reduce dissolved oxygen amount in water. The effective and efficient wastewater treatment technology is necessary to prevent the impact from the wastewater of food industry. Constructed wetland is one of the potential technology.
Working principle of Constructed Wetland is by utilizing symbiosis between water plants and microorganisms in the media around the root system of these plants. The plant used is Scirpus grossus. Before entering Constructed Wetland system, wastewater first passes through the initial processing.
The design method began with literature review about the design topic. The collection of data, that consist of primary data and secondary data, are obtained from field survey, sampling, and previous design. The calculation of Engineering Design included the calculation of dimension and hydraulics aspect wastewater treatment. Standard operating procedure (SOP) and maintenance of the Installation of wastewater treatment are also made.
Based on Engineering Design calculation, the result of dimension for grease trap (1,215 m x 0,6 m x 0,45 m), bak pengendap (2,1 m x 0,7 m x 2,82 m), bak ekualisasi (1 m x 0,7 m x 1,3 m), anaerobic baffled reactor (6,2 m x 0,7 m x 2 m), constructed wetland (6,3 m x 0,7 m x 1,4 m). The construction cost for IPAL is Rp 75.300.000., while operation cost is Rp 7.400.000.
