Abstract

Absorpsi karbon dioksida (CO2) merupakan hal penting dalam dunia industri. Dalam industri, khususnya industri gas alam, minyak, dan petrokimia pada prosesnya diperlukan pemisahan gas CO2 dimana gas ini merupakan gas korosif (acid gas). Dalam prosesnya, absorpsi itu tidak dapat berdiri sendiri, perlu ada proses regenerasi pelarut atau biasa disebut proses stripping (desorpsi). Proses stripping sangatlah penting karena kebutuhan energi dalam proses stripping itu sendiri sebesar 70% dari biaya operasi pada sistem absorbsi/stripping. Oleh karena itu penting dilakukan studi desorpsi gas CO2, salah satu caranya adalah desorpsi gas CO2 dalam larutan methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) menggunakan packed column. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengaruh suhu umpan, suhu reboiler, dan jenis promotor terhadap efisiensi stripper. Metode yang digunakan adalah desorpsi menggunakan peralatan packed column skala laboratorium pada tekanan 1 atm. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan hasil yang menunjukkan semakin besar suhu umpan rich solvent dan suhu reboiler akan semakin meningkatkan efisiensi stripper. Untuk jenis promotor sendiri, PZ merupakan jenis promotor terbaik dengan menghasilkan efisiensi stripper sebesar 94.36% pada saat suhu umpan 600C, dan suhu reboiler 1080.

Absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2) is important in the industries.
In industry, especially natural gas, oil, and petrochemical
industries, the process requires the separation of CO2 which is an
acid gas. In the process, the absorption cannot stand by itself,
there needs to be a process of regenerating the solvent or socalled stripping process (desorption). The stripping process is
very important because the energy requirement in the stripping
process itself is 70% of the operating cost in the
absorption/stripping system. It is therefore important to study the
desorption of CO2, one of which is the desorption of CO2 in
methyldiethanolamine solution (MDEA) using packed column.
This research was conducted to study the effect of feed
temperature, reboiler temperature, and type of promoter on
stripper efficiency. The method used is desorption using packed
column equipment at 1 atm pressure. These results indicate that
the greater the feed temperature of the rich solvent and the
reboiler temperature will increase the efficiency of the stripper.
For this type of promoter, PZ is the best promoter type by
producing 94.36% stripper efficiency at 600C feed temperature
and 1080C reboiler temperature.
