Abstract

Kopolimer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS yang terdiri dari monomer N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) dan N,N’- dimethyl(acrylamidopropyl)ammonium propane sulfonate (DMAAPS) akan disintesa kemudian dikarakterisasi. Hal ini dilakukan untuk mendukung penelitian sebelumnya yang fokus pada penyelidikan mengenai kemampuan adsorpsi dan desorpsi NIPAM-co-DMAAPS gel. DMAAPS bersifat thermosensitive dan zwitterionic. Zwitterion ini memiliki dua muatan sekaligus yaitu positif dan negatif yang dapat digunakan untuk menyerap kation dan anion secara simultan. Sedangkan NIPAM bersifat thermosensitive digunakan sebagai spacer untuk menghindari ikatan inter chain, intra chain, dan intra group antar grup bermuatan pada homopolimer zwitterion poly(DMAAPS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh rasio konsentrasi monomer pada kopolimer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS terhadap viskositas kopolimer, sifat ketertarikan air kopolimer, sifat fasa transisi termosensitif kopolimer dalam larutan Zn(NO3)2, pengaruh suhu transisi terhadap daya adsorpsi ion Zn2+ kopolimer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS serta mempelajari korelasi antara viskositas, sifat fasa transisi thermosensitive kopolimer poly[NIPAM-co-DMAAPS] dalam larutan Zn(NO3)2. Kopolimer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS disiapkan melalui reaksi polimerisasi radikal bebas dengan menggunakan N,N,N’,N’- tetramethylethylenediamine (TEMED) sebagai akselerator, ammoniumperoxodisulfate (APS) sebagai inisiator dengan variasi konsentrasi monomer NIPAM:DMAAPS yaitu 9:1, 8:2 dan 7:3. Semakin tinggi rasio konsentrasi monomer NIPAM pada kopolimer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS, viskositas kopolimer akan semakin tinggi. Semakin tinggi suhu transisi maka jumlah ion yang teradsorp cenderung menurun. Pada rasio konsentrasi monomer 9:1, sifat fasa transisi dalam larutan Zn(NO3)2 sebesar 56 °C. ====================================================================================================== Copolymer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS, consists of monomers N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and N,Ndimethyl(acrylamidopropyl) ammonium propane sulfonate (DMAAPS), will be synthesized and characterized. It is to support previous research focusing on investigations on the adsorption and desorption capacity of NIPAM-co-DMAAPS gel. DMAAPS is thermosensitive and zwitterionic. Zwitterion has two charges in the same time i.e. positive and negative that can be used to adsorp cation and anion, simultaneously. While NIPAM, which thermosensitive, is use as spacer to avoid inter-chain, intrachain, and intra-group between charged groups on the zwitterion homopolymer poly(DMAAPS). This study aims to determine the effect of monomer concentration ratio on NIPAM-co-DMAAPS copolymers on copolymer viscosity, water properties of copolymer, transitional thermosensitive transition phase (UCST and LCST) copolymer in Zn(NO3)2 solution, transition temperature influence on adsorption ability of Zn2+ ions NIPAMco-DMAAPS copolymer and study the correlation between viscosity, thermosensitive transition phase of poly (NIPAM-coDr. Eva Oktavia Ningrum, S.T., M.S. Asep Bagus 02211546000008 Galuh Chynintya R.P. 02211546000029 iv DMAAPS) copolymer in Zn(NO3)2 solution. Zn(NO3)2 is employ as the interaction media between the copolymer and ions. Copolymer NIPAM-co-DMAAPS will be prepared by free radical polymerization with N,N,N’,N’-tetramethylenediamine (TEMED) as the accelerator, ammonium peroxodisulfate (APS) as the initiator and the variation of monomer concentration NIPAM:DMAAPS i.e. 9:1, 8:2, and 7:3. The higher the ratio of NIPAM monomer concentration to NIPAM-co-DMAAPS copolymer, the higher the copolymer viscosity. The higher the transition temperature the amount of adsorbed ions tends to decrease. At a monomer ratio of 9: 1, the transition phase properties in Zn(NO3)2 solution were 56 °C.
