Abstract

Penelitian untuk Tesis dengan judul “Studi Lapisan Anti Basah PE/SiO2 Pada Media Kaca” telah dilakukan. Material hydrophobic terbentuk dari komposit Polyethylene PE/SiO2. Fasa silika quartz (SQ) didapat setelah proses leaching. Fasa silika amorphous (SA) didapatkan setelah proses pereduksian ukuran (kopresipitasi). Silika cristobalite (SC) didapatkan setelah mengkalsinasi SA dengan temperatur 1200°C selama 5 jam. Sifat hidrofobisitas dapat diketahui dengan mengukur sudut kontak air pada setiap lapisan. Untuk lapisan PE memiliki sudut kontak tertinggi yaitu 126,85 ± 1,03°, tertinggi kedua yaitu lapisan komposit PE/SQ dengan sudut kontak air 115,75 ± 1,14° kemudian lapisan komposit PE/SA sebesar 113,04 ± 1,21° dan yang terendah yaitu lapisan komposit PE/SC dengan sudut kontak air 106,75±1,26°. Lapisan PE/SA memiliki nilai transmitansi terbesar yaitu 75,27-97,55% pada panjang gelombang 400-800 nm, sehingga lapisan PE/SA lebih transparan dari pada lapisan komposit PE/SQ dan PE/SC. ======================================================================================================== Research on the influence of the phases SiO2 (quartz, cristobalite, amorphous) against the nature of the hydrophobic in glass medium has been done. Hydrophobic material formed from a composite PE/SiO2. The phases of silica quartz (SQ) obtained after leaching process. The phases of silica amorphous (SA) obtained after size reduction process (copresipitation). Silica cristobalite (SC) is obtained after calcinate SA material with 1200° C temperature for 5 hours. Hydrophobic properties can be found by measuring the water contact angle (WCA) on each layer. The PE/SQ layer form 115.75 ± 1.14° angle, PE/SA layer form 113.04 ± 1.21° angle, and the PE/SC form 106.75 ± 1.26° angle. The structure of the hierarchy on the PE/SQ has the smallest particle 80 nm so the contact of water with small layer forms a large WCA value, while on PE/SC has smallest so that the contact of water with a large layer forming the most small WCA value.
