Abstract

Development activities will have an impact to the surrounding areas, such as the construction of coastal protection, coastal facilities or reclamation activities. So appropriate planning is required, especially for problems that will be generated such as sedimentation, erosion, and other environmental impacts. Therefore, the technical planning and feasibility of PLTU Suralaya reclamation area related to the development of 9 and 10 units should be done so that activities expected to affect the quality and condition of the surrounding environment can be anticipated. This study compared the results of hydrodynamic modeling and sediment transport on existing conditions, alternatives 1 of reclamation design and alternative 2 of reclamation design due to the development plan of unit 9 and unit 10 in PLTU Suralaya using Delft3D software. The result of existing modeling indicates that volume of sedimentation in 4 observation areas in a row was 462.16 m3, 61.16 m3, 7309.54 m3, 10912.0 m3. While the volume of sedimentation for alternative 1 of reclamation design modeling in 4 observation areas were 2.90 m3, 93.35 m3, 5879.0 m3, 27683.70 m3, respectively. And sedimentation volume for alternative 2 of reclamation design modeling in 4 observation areas were 26.70 m3, 6.29 m3, 4808.42 m3, 19346.90 m3, respectively. The results of alternative 1 and alternative 2 modeling could reduce sedimentation and erosion amounted to 30% and 25% compared with the existing modeling results. So it can be concluded that the reclamation activities in PLTU Suralaya based on alternative layout design 1 or alternative layout design 2 did not cause a negative impact that will be affected environment around reclamation area.
