Abstract
=========== Suspension system has notable role on vehicle as comfort and safety driving support. Considerable effort has been made to improve suspension system performance, one of them is using active suspension system. Requirement for the enormous energy on active suspension system has inspire lots of engineer to improve active suspension system performance with lower energy requirement. Apart from convenient spring and damper, suspension system geometry has significant impact to suspension system kynematics and dynamics. Then, one of the best effort to improve suspension system performance is to manipulate suspension system geometry as known as variable geometry suspension.
This study conducted analysis of effect of changes in suspension geometry to vibrational dynamics of motorcycle’s rear suspension system. Changes in the geometry being analyzed is suspension’s bottom mounting and linkage length for spring constant are varied as well. By using numerical sortware, model has dynamically simulated on Honda CBR 150R.
Based on simulation result, obtained that comparison of vibration response with various suspension’s bottom mounting position shows the effect on equivalent spring constant. Comparison of vibration respons eon various linkage length also affect to the equivalent spring constant. Both are proportional to the change in spring constant’s being used. Furthermore, based on simulation result, comparing to conventional suspension system, Pro-Link, suspension system being analized on this study provide better acceleration response.
