Abstract

Penggunaan limbah botol plastik yang semakin tidak terkontrol merupakan ancaman serius terhadap lingkungan. Tujuan penggunaan sampah botol plastik yaitu dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap parameter marshall pada lapis aspal beton (LASTON). Metode yang digunakan adalah (wet process) pencampuran langsung plastik (Polyethylene Terepthalate) ke dalam aspal panas, kemudian ditambahkan aggregat. Variasi PET sebesar 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, dan 7% dari berat aspal penetrasi 60/70. Kadar Aspal Optimum pada penelitian ini adalah 5,7 %. Penambahan PET 3% mengalami peningkatan stabilitas 33% dibanding tanpa PET. Flow dengan PET didapat 5,6 mm, sedangkan tanpa PET sebesar 4,7 mm. Berdasarkan Void in Mix (VIM) didapat 4,02% dengan PET, sedangkan tanpa PET 4,59%. Marshall quotient dengan tambahan PET didapat 427,8 kg/mm, tanpa PET sebesar 371,8 kg/mm. Dengan demikian penambahan plastik mempunyai karakteristik lebih baik dibandingkan dengan tanpa tambahan plastik. Kadar aspal optimum 5,7% dan PET 5% merupakan komposisi terbaik untuk campuran aspal dengan penambahan plastik.
=========== This The use of plastic water bottle waste is out of control. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of the PET on Marshall parameters. The wet method is used in this research. It means that PET is directly mixed into asphalt when it’s heated, then aggregates are added. Optimum content is 5.7% while PET added are 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, and 7% of the asphalt by weight with penetration of 60/70. The addition of 3% PET increases the stability 33% than without PET. Flow parameters show that the addition of PET is 5,6mm, and without PET is 4,7mm. Based on VIM, obtained 4,02% with PET addition, without PET is 4,59%. The marshall quotient with additional PET is 427.8 kg mm, and to 371.8 kg/mm for without PET. In regulation of Bina Marga 2010 obtained at 5.7% optimum asphalt content with 5% plastic additive is the best composition.
