Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi arus dan bentuk kampuh serta
mengetahui kondisi optimal pengaruh variasi arus dan bentuk kampuh pada pengelasan
SMAW terhadap kekuatan impact sambungan butt joint pada plat baja A36. Penelitian ini
menggunakan Baja A36 dengan variasi arus 70 A, 90 A, 110 A, dan 130 A serta variasi
bentuk kampuh yaitu U dan V dengan menggunakan las SMAW dan memakai elektroda
E7018 diameter 3,2 mm. Spesimen dilakukan pengujian Impact dan foto struktur mikro.
Pengaruh kuat arus terhadap nilai impact pada kampuh U, untuk kuat arus 70 A didapatkan
nilai impact rata-rata sebesar 1,480 J/mm2. Untuk kuat arus 90 A di dapatkan nilai impact
rata-rata sebesar 0,974 J/mm2. Untuk kuat arus 110 A di dapatkan nilai impact rata-rata
sebesar 1,342 J/mm2. Untuk kuat arus 130 A di dapatkan nilai impact rata-rata sebesar 0,779
J/mm2. Sedangkan pengaruh kuat arus terhadap nilai impact pada kampuh V, untuk kuat arus
70 A didapatkan nilai impact rata-rata sebesar 0,780 J/mm2. Untuk kuat arus 90 A di
dapatkan nilai impact rata-rata sebesar 1,23 J/mm2. Untuk kuat arus 110 A di dapatkan nilai
impact rata-rata sebesar 1,274 J/mm2. Untuk kuat arus 130 A di dapatkan nilai impact ratarata
sebesar 1,131 J/mm2. Kekuatan impact sambungan las yang paling optimal adalah arus
70 A pada bentuk kampuh U hal ini dikarenakan struktur mikro ferit lebih rapat (halus),
sehingga menahan rambatan retak yang terjadi. Pada bentuk kampuh V didapatkan Semakin
tinggi kuat arus yang digunakan, maka kekuatan impact-nya akan semakin tinggi hingga
mencapai titik maksimum lalu kembali mengalami penurunan, sedangkan pada bentuk
kampuh U didapatkan semakin tinggi kuat arus yang digunakan, maka kekuatan impact-nya
akan semakin rendah.

This study aims to determine the effect of variations in current and the variations in groove as
well as to determine the optimal conditions from the effect of variations in flow and groove
of the SMAW welding type. This study was done by concerning to the impact strength of butt
joint connection in steel plate A36. This study uses a variation of the current Steel A36 with
70 A, 90 A, 110 A and 130 A as well as the variation in groove U and V by using SMAW
welding electrode E7018 and diameter size of 3.2 mm. Specimens used for Impact testing and
photographs of the microstructure. The effect of the current concerning to the impact value
on the U groove, for currents of 70 A is obtained impact values by an average of 1.480 J /
mm 2.. Currents to 90 A get the impact value by an average of 0,974 J /mm 2.. Currents to 110
A get the impact value by an average of 1.342 J / mm 2 . Currents to 130 A at get the impact
value by an average of 0.779 J / mm 2. While a strong influence on the value of the current
impact on the groove V, current 70 A to impact value obtained an average of 0.780 J /mm 2 .
Currents to 90 A get an average impact value of 1.23 J / mm 2. . Currents to 110 A get the
impact value by an average of 1,274 J /mm 2.. Currents to 130 A get the impact value by an
average of 1.131 J /mm 2 . Impact strength of welded joints is the most optimal flow of 70 A
at the U shape because this is more dense ferrite microstructure (fine), so it resist to the
propagation of cracks occurring. In the form V can be obtained that higher currents are used,
the strength of its impact will be more high until it reaches a maximum point and then it will
be decrease, while in the U-shape can be obtained that higher current be applied, the strength
of its impact will be more low.
