Abstract
Dalam usaha mengurangi perambatan suhu LNG ke arah struktur lambung kapal, digunakan sistem insulasi khusus pada tanki muatan Insulasi selain memiliki kegunaan sebagai penahan perambatan suhu dari LNG ke struktur kapal, juga berlungsi menjaga suhu LNG agar konstan pada tingkat yang aman dari penguapan Tipe tangki yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini adalah Membrane G.T.T dengan sistem insulasi tangki tipe MARKIII, terbuat dari material SUS 304L. Hal utama yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah menganalisa perbandingan dua model bentuk membrane, yaitu membrane flat dan corrugated, oleh pengaruh perambatan suhu dari LNG pada struktur insulasi tangki dan deformasi yang terjadi akibat perubahan suhu dan beban tekanan hidrostatik dari 12,33285 psi hingga 36,99855 psi. Hasil analisa FEM dengan MSC Nastran V4.5 menunjukkan deformasi terbesar akibat beban tekanan adalah mencapai 0,1651 in pada model tlat dan 0,8867 in pada model corrugated pada arah sumbu z negatif.. Nilai faktor keselamatan struktur, yang merupakan perbandingan antara tegangan mulur dan tegangan Von Mises, diperoleh angka keselamatan sebesar 1,16 untuk model Flat dan 1,21 untuk model Corrugated Dengan demikian struktur disimpulkan mampu menahan beftan akibat muatannya

A special insulation should be utilized in an LNG tank in the attempt to minimize the heat transfer of the LNG temperature to the ship hull structure. Insulation, besides preventing the excessive heat transfer, functions also to keep the LNG temperature constant so that vaporization would not develop. Membrane G.T.T tank type with Mark IH insulation system of SUS 304L as material has been studied. The primary aspect investigated in the current study is the comparison in the structural behaviour of two membrane types, namely the flat and corrugated membrane, under certain LNG temperature radiation on the insulation and the level of deformation that may develop due to temperature fluctuation and a hydrostatic pressure within the range of 12,33285 psi to 36,99855 psi Results of the FEM modeling using MSC Nastran V4.5 shows the largest deformation due to the pressure load could be as much as 0.1651 and 0.8867 for the flat and corrugated model, respectively to negative z coodinate system. The structural safety factors, which is the ratio of yield and von Mises stresses, so obtained from the analysis are 1.16 for the flat model and 1,21 for corrugated model. The tank structure is considered to have sufficient strength to withstand the load due to the LNG cargo.
