Abstract

Air fin cooler di unit Residue Catalytic Cracker (RCC) mempunyai peran penting untuk mengkondensasikan hasil olahan katalis pada proses perengkahan residue di main column. Fluida service yang mengalir dalam air fin cooler adalah wet gas hasil fraksinasi dari main column yang mengandung chloride dan nitrogen. Tingginya kandungan chloride dan nitrogen dalam fluida service menyebabkan terjadinya korosi pada tube air fin cooler. Jika hal ini terus dibiarkan, maka umur tube air fin cooler akan lebih pendek daripada yang seharusnya. Pada tugas akhir ini akan dianalisa penyebab tingginya laju korosi dengan menggunakan metode Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). RCFA digunakan untuk mencari penyebab terjadinya kerusakan sehingga solusi untuk pencegahannya dapat dilakukan. Metode yang dilakukan adalah proses analysis, mapping, flowchart serta metode why analysis. Tingginya laju korosi disebabkan oleh presipitat ammonium chloride pada tube air fin cooler. Endapan ini akan menyebabkan plugging pada tube dan under deposit corrosion. Presipitat ammonium chloride disebabkan karena reaksi ammonium dan hydrogen chloride pada temperature di atas temperature titik embun air. Presipitat dibuktikan oleh kenaikan i pressure drop pada air fin cooler 15-E-110. Kenaikkan ini menunjukkan potensi salt loading di air fin cooler. ======================================================================================================= Air fin cooler in Residue Catalytic Cracker Unit (RCCU) has an important role to condense fluid services from main column. Fluid services that flows in air fin cooler is wet gases from main column which is contain chloride and nitrogen. High concentration of chloride and nitrogen can cause corrosion in tube air fin cooler. If this phenomenon continues, there will be leakage in air fin cooler. In this final project, the problem of failure tube air fin cooler will be re-evaluated using the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). RCFA is used to find the cause of the failure and provide a solution to the problem in order to prevent damage to the failure tube air fin cooler is not repeated. The method does is process analysis, mapping and flowcharts, and why analysis methods. The high rate of corrosion level is caused by ammonium chloride precipitates in air fin cooler. These deposits will cause plugging the tube and under deposit corrosion. Ammonium chloride is the precipitate from the reaction of ammonium and chloride at temperature above the dew point level. Precipitate is shown by the increasing iii pressure drop. This level shown the potential of salt loading in main column overhead system.
