Abstract
UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) merupakan jenis catu daya
yang memiliki komponen penyimpan energi seperti baterai dengan tujuan
menjaga kontinuitas aliran daya ke beban. Pada umumnya aplikasi UPS
digunakan pada beban kritis, yakni beban yang tidak boleh kehilangan
aliran daya secara tiba-tiba seperti komputer, peralatan medis dan kontrol
industri. Dari berbagai macam topologi UPS, sistem on-line UPS sering
menjadi pilihan utama karena tidak ada waktu transisi yang dibutuhkan
untuk berpindah dari mode operasi normal ke mode baterai. Namun jika
dilihat dari segi ekonomis, sistem on-line UPS merupakan yang paling
buruk diantara topologi lainnya.
Sebuah on-line UPS terdiri dari konverter AC/DC (penyearah),
konverter DC/DC dua arah, komponen penyimpan energi, phase locked
loop (PLL) dan konverter DC/AC (inverter). Dalam tugas akhir ini hanya
dibahas mengenai perancangan konverter AC/DC dan konverter DC/AC
dengan topologi half-bridge converter. Topologi ini dipilih karena jumlah
komponen pensaklaran yang digunakan dua kali lebih sedikit
dibandingkan dengan topologi full-bridge converter. Dengan demikian,
nilai ekonomis on-line UPS diharapkan lebih baik daripada sistem on-line
UPS konvensional.

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is an AC power supply
featured with energy storage component such as battery in order to
maintain continuity of load flow. In general, UPS used for equipment in
critical applications, i.e., computers, medical equipment and industrial
control. Such critical applications need uninterruptible power flow
during operation. In certain applications, on-line UPS systems are often
irreplaceable with other topologies because there is no transition time
required for changing operation mode from normal to battery mode.
However, on-line UPS systems are the worst among other topologies in
terms of economic.
An on-line UPS consists of AC/DC converter (rectifier), bidirectional
DC/DC converter, energy storage component, phase locked
loop (PLL) and DC/AC converter (inverter). In this thesis only discussed
about the design of the half-bridge DC/AC converter and AC/AC
converter. Number of switching components used in this half-bridge
topology are two times less than used in full-bridge topology. Thus,
comparing with conventional on-line UPS systems, the cost of on-line
UPS systems with proposed converter are expected to be reduced.
