Abstract
Kelangsungan operasi transformator sangat bergantung pada kualitas dari isolasinya. Pada operasi transformator terjadi proses thermal yang dapat menyebabkan berkurangan kualitas isolasinya. Pentingnya fungsi isolasi terutama isolasi kertas, maka dilakukanlah penelitian tentang isolasi kertas untuk mendapatkan karakteristik breakdown voltage terhadap pengaruh kenaikan temperatur dan variasi ketebalan isolasi kertas yang direndam (impregnasi) kedalam isolasi minyak. Penelitian dengan pembangkitan tegangan tinggi AC (50 Hz) dan menggunakan elektroda mushroom sesuai standart IEC 60156 untuk menguji breakdown voltage, dan uji kadar selulosa dengan menggunakan metode Chesson untuk mendapatkan kadar selulosa pada kertas. Dari penelitian ini bahan isolasi yang digunakan adalah kertas kraft (diamond-dotted paper) dan minyak isolasi untuk perendaman adalah minyak mineral. Pada pengujian yang dilakukan akan didapatkan karakteristik isolasi kertas dengan kenaikan temperatur dan variasi ketebalan. Dari hasil pengujian didapatkan nilai breakdown voltage dengan bertambahnya ketebalan nilai breakdown voltage semakin meningkat, dan pengaruh kenaikan temperatur dari 30oC sampai 105 oC nilai breakdown voltage semakin bertambah. Pada temperatur lebih dari 105 oC didapatkan nilai breakdown voltage semakin menurun diikuti dengan penurunan kadar selulosa pada kertas isolasi.

The transformer operation is very advantage on quality of insulation. In the transformer operation occurs a thermal proscess that can lead to reduced quality of insulation. The importance of insulation function, espencially of paper insulation, then conducted research on paper isolation to get breakdown voltage characteristics against the influence of temperature rise and variation of insulation thickness of paper immersed (impregnation) in oil insulation. Research by generating high-voltage AC (50 Hz) and using mushroom electrodes according to IEC 60156 standard to test breakdown voltage, and test cellulose content using Chesson method to obtain cellulose content on paper. Testing of insulation materials used is kraft paper (diamond-dotted paper) and oil insulation for immersion is mineral oil. In the test conducted will get the characteristics of paper insulation with increasing temperature and thickness variation. From the test results obtained breakdown voltage value with increasing the thickness of the breakdown voltage value increases, and the influence of temperature rise from 30oC to 105oC breakdown voltage value increases. At temperatures greater than 105oC, the breakdown voltage value decreases, followed by a decrease in cellulose levels on the insulating paper.
