Abstract

========== Fuselage is one of the most important components in aerospace,
the properties needed to make the compenents are light and strong. Therefore, to make fuselage
required a strong and lightweight material. The material of the fuselage is generally used Al-Mg-Si alloys such as Al 6061 and Al 6063 alloys.
However, to obtain maximum mechanical properties especially tensile strength, a process is needed to clean aluminum from inclusions during the melting process. Therefore, in this study made an observation of the effect of casting temperature and degassing on Al 6061 alloy with the aim that its mechanical
properties reach maximum value.
The method used in this research was sand casting. Tests conducted to analyze this material are composition test, XRD test, tensile test, and metallographic test. Thereafter, a thermal simulation process were conducted to determine the heat transfer due to several
inclusions found in Al 6061 after the casting process. After the test, it was found that Al 6061 alloys formed α Al phase on XRD test results. Tensile strength test results were obtained the greatest strength of 64.30 MPa at temperature of 700oC casting with degassing process
. The lowest tensile strength was obtained
35.85 MPa at temperature of 700oC without degassing process. On heat transfer proses with thin film inclusion was obtained a slower cooling result. Then, On heat transfer process with hydrogen inclusion was obtained a faster cooling result.
