Abstract
================== Paralysis is a condition that make patients can not move their muscle on upper limb or lower limb. Paralysis is caused by injury on central nervous system or peripheral nervous system so the transferred signal becomes distrurbed and it affects the mobilitiy of the patients so their mobility become difficult. To provide their mobility, they can use aids such as electric wheelchair. Right now, they can find electric wheelchair using joystick as its controller. But for the older person or patients that suffers quadriplegia, it will be difficult for them to use it. Therefore, on this research is designed EMG signal processing as command control for electric wheelchair. EMG signals are acquired with EMG instrumentation circuit. EMG instrumentation circuit consist of high pass filter with cutoff frequency 1 Hz, instrumentation amplifier with gain 2300 times, bandpass filter from 50 Hz – 500 Hz with gain 3 times, main amplifier and low pass filter with cutoff frequency 1 Hz. Then those signals are processed by microcontroller to monitor muscle signal and give command control to the electric wheelchair. The test was performed on three subject and the average success rate for “forward” command is 89.33 %, for “turn left” command is 97.33 %, for “turn right” command is 97.33 %, and for “stop” command is 100 %. For further research can be designed filters that can reduce cable movement, increase the sensitivity of EMG, and test this research on patients.
