Abstract
Komposisi limbah terbesar di Indonesia selain limbah organik (70%) adalah limbah plastik (14%). Dari berbagai jenis limbah plastik, LDPE (Low Density Poliethylene) dan PP (Polypropylene) memiliki prosentase berturut-turut 23% dan 14 %. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh penambahan PP dan LDPE terhadap sifat fisik dan mekanik wood plastic composite LDPE/PP/serbuk kayu. Pada penelitian ini dibuat wood plastic composite (WPC) dengan memanfaatkan limbah LDPE, PP, dan serbuk kayu jati dengan serbuk kayu jati sebesar 30% fraksi volume dan perbedaan fraksi volume PP/LDPE untuk diaplikasikan sebagai material genteng ramah lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan LDPE memberikan perbaikan sifat mekanik (flexural stress, compression strength, hardness) dan sifat fisik (water absorbability, densitas) yang lebih baik dibandingkan penambahan PP. Adapun WPC yang memiliki sifat fisik dan mekanik paling baik adalah WPC dengan komposisi 70%LDPE 0%PP 30%serbuk kayu dengan nilai densitas 1,081 g/cm3, water absorbability 0,01%, flexural stress 11 MPa, hardness shore D 40,33, dan kuat tekannya 10,8 MPa.

The largest percentage of waste in Indonesia other than organic waste (70%) is plastic waste (14%). From many type of the plastic waste, LDPE and PP has percentage about 23% and 14%. The aims of this study is to analyze the effect of adding the PP and LDPE in physical and mechanical properties of wood plastic composite LDPE/PP/sawdust. In this study, wood plastic composites (WPC) were made from LDPE, PP and teak dust which the volume fraction of teak dust is 30%. Then the different volume fraction of PP and LDPE is used in fabrication process of the environmentally friendly rooftile. The results showed that the adding LDPE is better than adding PP in improved the mechanical properties (flexural stress, compression strength, hardness) and physical properties (water absorbability and density) of WPC. Then, the WPC which has the best physical and mechanical properties is WPC with 70% LDPE 0% PP 30% sawdust with density 1,081 g / cm3, water absorbability 0,01%, flexural stress 11 MPa, hardness shore D 40,33 , and the compressive strength is 10.8 MPa.
