Abstract

Rhodamine-B merupakan salah satu zat pewarna tekstil yang berbahaya bagi lingkungan dan manusia. Sudah banyak metode yang digunakan untuk meminimalisir dan mengatasi permasalahan limbah ini. Namun, sejauh ini metode-metode tersebut membutuhkan biaya operasional yang cukup mahal sehingga kurang efektif diterapkan di Indonesia. Salah satu metode yang relatif murah dan mudah diterapkan di Indonesia, yaitu fotodegradasi. Prinsipnya menggunakan fotokatalis yang berasal dari bahan semikonduktor. Pada penelitian kali ini, fotokatalis yang digunakan adalah semikonduktor ZnO yang dikompositkan dengan reduced graphene oxide. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan reduced graphene oxide sebanyak 5%, 10%, dan 15% pada ZnO terhadap sifat fotokatalitik ZnO/reduced graphene oxide untuk degradasi Rhodamine-B. Pembuatan reduced graphene oxide dilakukan dengan modifikasi metode Hummer dan ZnO disintesis dari oksidasi precursor serbuk zink (Zn). Proses karakterisasi yang dilakukan adalah XRD, SEM, FTIR, UV-Vis, GCMS, dan pengujian fotokatalitik. Dari hasil pengujian fotokatalitik didapatkan bahwa ZnO dengan penambahan reduced graphene oxide 15% memiliki tingkat efisiensi degradasi paling besar yaitu sebesar 92.67%.

Rhodamine-B is one of the textile dyes that are harmful to the environment and humans. Many technological methods are used to minimize and solve this waste problem. However, so far these methods require operational costs are quite expensive so less effective applied in Indonesia. One method that is relatively cheap and easy to implement in Indonesia, namely photodegradation. Principally use a photocatalyst derived from a semiconductor material. In this study, the photocatalyst used is a ZnO semiconductor coated with reduced graphene oxide. This study aims to analyze the effect of reduced graphene oxide addition of 5%, 10%, and 15% on ZnO on the photocatalytic properties of ZnO / reduced graphene oxide for Rhodamine-B degradation. The preparation of reduced graphene oxide is done by modifying the Hummer and ZnO methods synthesized from the oxidation of zinc powder precursors (Zn). The characterization process performed is XRD, SEM, FTIR, UV-Vis, GCMS, and photocatalytic testing. From the results of photocatalytic testing found that ZnO with the addition of reduced graphene oxide 15% has the highest rate of degradation efficiency of 92.67%.
