Abstract
Energi gelombang laut dapat dikonversi menjadi energi listrik menggunakan pembangkit listrik tenaga gelombang laut (PLTGL) tipe Oscillating Wave Surge (OWS). Pemasangan OWS memberikan dampak terutama redaman gelombang dikarenakan alat ini bekerja dengan memanfaatkan gelombang datang yang mengenainya. Besarnya redaman gelombang dapat dilihat dari perbandingan antara gelombang setelah mengenai struktur (Ht) dan gelombang sebelum mengenai struktur (Hi) sehingga didapat koefisien transmisi (Kt). Untuk mengetahui efek pemasangan OWS terhadap redaman gelombang yang terjadi, maka dilakukan eksperimen di Laboratorium Energi dan Lingkungan Laut ITS. Model OWS dibuat dengan skala 1:40 dengan kesamaan Froude dan diujikan pada variasi sudut flap 45 derajat, 60 derajat, dan 90 derajat. Variasi juga dilakukan terhadap parameter tak berdimensi yaitu relative depth submergence (h/d). Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa OWS akan meredam gelombang lebih banyak pada relative depth submergence yang semakin tinggi atau dalam hal ini kedalaman yang rendah. Sementara, sudut flap 90 derajat mampu meredam gelombang lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan sudut flap 60 derajat dan 45 derajat.

Ocean wave energy can be converted into electrical energy using the Oscillating Wave Surge (OWS) type wave energy converter. The installation of OWS has and impact primarily due to wave attenuation because it works by utilizing te coming waves that hit it. The amount of wave attenuation can be seen from the comparison between the wave height after the structure (Ht) and the wave height before the structure (Hi) to obtain the transmission coefficient (Kt). To know the effect of OWS mounting on wave transmission that occurred, then the experiment held at Energy and Environment Laboratory of Sea ITS. The OWS model is made with 1:40 scale with Froude similarity and was tested on flap angle varitions of 45 degree, 60 degree, and 90 degree. Variations are also made on the dimensionless parameter of relative depth submergence (h/d). The experimental results show that OWS will attenuate more waves at higher relative depth of submergence or in low water depth. Meanwhile the flap angle at 90 degree was able to attenuate more waves that the flap angles at 60 degree and 45 degree.
