Abstract
Steel plate shear wall (SPSW) merupakan salah satu jenis pengaku struktur bangunan baja tahan gempa yang dapat mendisipasi energi gempa dalam jumlah yang besar, dimana steel plate shear wall itu sendiri telah dikembangkan dari waktu-waktu, dan masih akan terus dikembangkan. Idealnya, SPSW didesain sedimikian rupa sehingga seluruh bagian plate dapat meredam seluruh energi melalui deformasi inelastik ketika struktur menerima beban seismik. Karenanya, tebal dari steel plate yang akan dipasang pada suatu portal ditentukan oleh nilai geser pada portal tersebut. Dalam tesis ini, telah dilakukan percobaan terhadap berbagai jenis metode baru yang dapat digunakan pada SPSW, dimana penggunaannya dapat menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhan arsitektur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan penerapan pembebanan pada spesimen steel plate dengan berbagai varian opening, yaitu single window (SW), double window (DW) dan door (D). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan pola penyerapan energi oleh steel plate dikarenakan adanya reduced beam section (RBS) dan adanya penurunan performa yang cukup jelas dari setiap spesimen, yaitu penurunan sebesar 15%-25% dari segi penyerapan energi disipasi dan 10%-20% dari segi daktilitias.

Steel plate shear wall (SPSW) is one kind of steel earthquake resistant building structural stiffener that can dissipate the tremendous amount of quake energy, where the steel plate itself had been developed from years, and still, in development. Ideally, SPSW is designed so all of its parts can absorb the energy of lateral force, seismic load for instance, through inelastic deformation. Because of that, the thickness of applied steel plate in a section of a building (a portal in this case) is determined by the shear force of the portal itself. In this thesis, experiment had been done using multiple applicable methods for the SPSW, where the use of it depends on the architect aspect and necessity. In this experiment, the specimen will be tested with some applicable lateral loading, where in the steel plate itself, there are some opening applied to the web plate, which are single window opening (SW), double window opening (DW) and door opening (D). The result of the research shows some behavior changing of the dissipating energy throughout the steel plate, making a new pattern caused by the applied reduced beam section (RBS). Because of that fact, there are some performance degradation in every specimen, compared to the normal steel plate, which is 15%-20% reduction of dissipated energy and 10%-20% reduction of structural ductility.
