Abstract

The use of submarine pipelines as a medium of oil and gas transportation from the platform to the mainland often encounters several problems. Scouring is one of the problems experienced by subsea pipelines caused by changes in flow and current wave patterns that result in soil erosion. The process of scouring is very important in terms of pipe stability because scouring can cause self-burial and free span. This final project will be carried out in the flume tank of the Laboratory of Energy and Marine Environment Department of Ocean Engineering - FTK ITS. The pipe model used in this experiment is a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe with a diameter of 1.5 inch, with a soil diameter of d50 of 0.56m and a water flow angle to a perpendicular pipe (α = 900). There are three variations of pipe laying in this experiment. The analysis results in the form of 2D objects that are described more clearly through AutoCAD software. From the scouring experiments around the pipe due to regular and current waves it can be concluded that the largest depth and width of scouring occur under pipe conditions with a wave height of 13cm and a current velocity of 13cm / s with depth = 0.965cm and width = 3.89cm. The deeper the pipe is buried the smaller the depth and width of the scouring that occurs. Meanwhile, the greater the value of wave and current the greater the depth and width of the scouring occurs.
